Where are our empty towns, hmm? Damn US and their kick-ass MOUT facilities.

Got the DVD over a month ago. Way better production than previous DVD's. Shows not only the shootem up part of the game (which get's old fast) but also shows what the Commanders and squad leaders go through as well as the NPC's. The "outtakes" are a riot. MSG Mullen get's OWNED big time by some NPC's.

Chances are they're on the DVD. It's a rumor I heard.

Cool, anyone have any background info in this Op? Where in the states is it held?

Styrak September 1st, 2008 01:02

What? Where can you get/buy the DVDs?

Darklen September 1st, 2008 15:36

Click here. I've gotten all my OP Irene DVD's here. They even have some Op Lion Claws dvds as well. I don't think they ever did an Op Irene 1 dvd and #2 was at an old abandonded airbase and I haven't seen that one available for a long long time. You could also try eBay as the pop up once and a while.

Op Irene is held annually to remember to fallen of the original Op Irene in Somolia in 1993 (watch Blackhawk Down to get the idea, it's based on the actual op). It's been held in a few locations, the last 3 being in Zussman City, an active MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain) center in Ft. Knox, Ky.

There are 350 players divided into two teams Charlie and Delta. Team camo is highly restricted, woodland for Delta, 3 color desert for Charlie, period. No other camo allowed. Charlie is led by retired Col. Danny McKnight and Delta is led by Msg. Mad Max Mullen. When held in Zussman, you had to be a US citizen to play, period. If you hadn't played before, you had to have a previous player in good standing vouch for you before you could be condisered to even play. There are no walkons allowed.

Some will not agree, but many consider the OP Irene and Op Lion Claws games to be the best milsim games in North America. The are very military and teamwork based, objective oriented and time is a factor. Rambos and asshats are escorted off the field and not welcome back. If you are a run & gun player or just a skirmisher, this is not a game for you. Conditioned and hardcore milsimers only. This in addition to NPC's (Non-Player Characters aka actors) on the field (dozens of them) who act as regular civilians, insurgents, shamans, etc. These really throw a wrench into the works. Try negotiating safe passage with someone who isn't a player and doesn't speak english well and is making your life (and life for your team) very difficult and you have to deal with it. Killing the civilians loses your team points ans the whole scenario is point driven.

This year it's being held in Muscatatuck Urban Training Center (MUTC) near Butlerville, IN.
