mp5 sd5 barrel mod
so after looking at my gun, I started thinking that I could probably get a few inches of barrel in the "silencer" so I did some research, yes someone did research without asking right away, and I figured the p90 would be the best best. Has anyone done this before?

I did this for airpistol and I want to do it for my g36c using a cheap used flash hinder if i can find one.
Basicly my method: used a washer on the front and I cut an aluminum pipe, jb welded the washer onto the front. The diameter of the hinder and the pipe are almost the same so I just used tape to fill in the gap and the pipe holds onto the hinder. The aluminum pipe fro home depot 1" diameter 3feet was $10, wsher $0.87 I spray painted the fake "silencer" flat black. Something stupid I did was use a hack saw to cut the pipe when my pipe cutter which was in my tool box a few feet away. d'oh An improvement would be to find a more secure method of holding the pipe onto the hinder. |
hm interesting, im thinking of replacing the whole barrel for a longer one....

I used a Thompson length tight bore in mine, had to drill out the silencer to clear the barrel
|
Thats exactly what im thinking of doing, how did it working for you? Worth it?
|
You can fit in a 330mm inner barrel into the SD. I cut one that length for mine, works very well, even gave me an extra 20fps.

my mp5a5 has an m4 barrel in it, with a silencer covering it, it is very scary looking, it also upped my fps a hair and gave me slightly better range and accuracy...excellent idea, just dont over due it, or it becomes less effective in CQB
|
when you extend the inner, there isn't any silencer effect so it gets louder.
I play more outdoor than cqb so I wanted the extended range/ tighter grouping and moving to a 6.04 helped me. I installed the barrel and then the silencer wouldn't fit over, so I used a drill press (it was there) and a bit thats larger than the inner barrel and drilled the center of the silencer out. |
anyone know any place to get a 330mm barrel? tight bore would be nice...
P.S. i just pulled my barrel out trying to find out how long it is. i have no experience doing this, and a rubber sleave almost came out wit it. is this the hop up, and did i wreck it? if so, any tips on how to do it in the future? |

You can get tightbores from any retailer, Canadian or US. Try eHobby or Redwolf. |
