How to dismantle an M4A1?
 

I need to take off the crane stock off - anyone know where there is a step by step guide to dismantling an M4?

I typed "tm m4a1 disassembly" into google and the very first hit resulted in a pictoral guide;

I tried looking for "how to disassemble M4A1" and couldn't find a useful article. Please don't make assumptions about whether someone used google. Always give people the benefit of the doubt - not everyone is trying to be difficult you know. Thanks for the link.

When you use google, avoid words like "how" and "to". It will produce false results.
Try the search with the words he gave you instead of being all offended. Maybe there are things about search engines you have not mastered yet.

Funny, "how to disassemble M4A1" gives the exact same article as the first hit... I must be on a different tube then you to the internet. Damn tubes!

Yes, it's a forum. Guess what? The answers to your questions are answered already. This is a forum, not a spoonfeeding central. Many here took HOURS to write answers in the Information section. Read it at least before getting upset.

actually greylocks, my point is that YOU should have a little patience before YOU get upset. I'm just pointing out the gracious thing to do - I'm not upset myself.

I personally don't see the point in you pontificating everyone. Just ignore the thread if it pisses you off. I don't see the benefit in your long-term plan to pontificate every newbie that comes along, especially if you don't know before hand what they have or haven't done prior to asking the question.

For example: no-one on this thread referred me to another thread on this board. They referred me to external sites found on google. What does that tell you? It tells me that the answer isn't apparent on this forum - and that's precisely what I found when I looked through the FAQ forum.

You seriously don't expect people to spend hours and hours poring through google or the FAQ do you? Sure it's reasonable to look through a FEW pages - but not through reams and reams of pages, and I've already explained that I checked the first 5 pages of google search before coming here.

My point of saying "this is a forum", is because I find it enjoyable to converse with people - even giving a little tip that takes me 10 seconds to write. How long does it take you to pontificate and argue with every newbie greylocks?

If using the search function here, or on Google, does not produce any answers at all, come ask. You were told where to look for your answers. Go look.

Scooby: because that's not the way the world works! Are you seriously telling me that if your friend asks you a question that you know the answer to, you would tell him to go somewhere else to get the answer, instead of taking 3 seconds to just tell him?

I don't know where you're from, but in all the countries I've been that's socially unacceptable. You either pretend you don't know or you just tell him! And if you feel like pontificating, and your friend takes the time to explain that he HAS already tried to find the answer, it's doubly socially unacceptable to continue to berate him.

You know I'm right about this. But for some reason, all of a sudden social etiquette goes right out the window when it comes to some forums. This does not happen in all forums - but if in some forums certain folks start this holier than thou attitude - everyone then has the same attitude - just like the monkey social experiment where everyone just follows the status quo.

The bottom line is - most people aren't asking to be spoon-fed. They just tried looking and for some stupid reason they can't find the answer. Sometimes I am in a store, and ask the sales guy where something is - only to be told that I'm standing right in front of it. This has happened to everyone before I'm sure. I'm not trying to be a jerk, it's just that sometimes you just can't see something that may be obvious to "locals".

My point is, I think it's poor spirit if everyone on a forum just assumes that newbies are being "jerks" by supposedly wanting to be "spoon-fed". Why have such cynicism? Would it not be better to give people the benefit of the doubt. But hey - whatever right? I can't force you to become a better person.

by the way: I am just having a conversation - I'm not attacking anyone personally. It's just this forum, more than the average seems to have a cynical spirit in general. I really did take some time to go through some of the FAQ topics, but then every question I have seems to have been met with some sort of comment to "go look up google or search".

Are there any legitimate questions that can be asked without being lectured? I mean seriously: at what point of searching is it okay to ask a question? After 1 hour of searching? After 2 hours of searching? That's quite a fear based system you have going here. I mean even after 10 hours of searching, one might just be looking in the wrong place, and heaven forbid one ask a question on this forum and be publicly humiliated as a total idiot who needs to be spoon-fed.
