TM Hi Capa 5.1 + Green Gas?

Hello I was just wondering if the Tokyo Marui Hi Capa 5.1 works with green gas and (I don't have it yet) how much does gas cost you (how long can a can of it last).

Thanks!

Yes is will work, but it's allot cheaper to just buy a propane adapter.

I dont recall anything too specific, its TM its probly not a metal slide, you can most likly get a metal slide for it easily. I heard somewhere that the newer generation TMs can do green gas out of the box, I cannot confirm if it is true. However I still believe you should be able to use propane on it.

Google gave me this as the first link

Green gas is costly, propane is not. They are the same thing.
An adapter for propane is around 25-30 dollars I think, and after that you may use colemen propane tanks to fill your mags. Green gas can go anywhere from 15 dollars and up for a can of it and it will contain nowhere near the amount of a coleman canister.

Google is your friend.

Thanks a bunch guys, that exactly what I wanted to know! ;)

One more thing I forgot, do you need to put silicon oil in the propane? I think you do, but I want to make sure.

Yep, once every dozen mag or so.

Stupideye November 16th, 2007 21:19

Ok, how much do you put in? Just a couple drops, or...?

BBS November 16th, 2007 21:46

1-2 drops for every 10 mag fills. fill the mag with propane for around 5-6 seconds.

Awesome! Thanks again guys for all the feedback! ;)

With propane I would suggest filling for only 3-4 seconds

One thing you should know, when using the Hi-Capa with propane in warm to hot weather, the gun WILL burp the O-ring in the slide (is in the rear of the slide in the blow back assembly) forward and jam up your gun. Is typical of the design, easy to fix with tools and some time, but annoying non-the-less. Seen it a few times, the last time it happened I was able to fix it mid-game (I was in a tower with the owner hunting snipers so I had the time to do so) and it took me about 20mins to sort out.

This issue only happened with the first generation of Hi-Capa 5.1s. Since then, Marui has corrected the design with a cupped design rather than an o-ring, and as a result, the chance of an o-ring blowout is pretty much nil... because there isn't an o-ring anymore. :P

The same design is used on all 4.3s and P226s.

So this is my first gas gun, um, where do you put the silicon oil? like at the gas valve in the mag, or where? thanks for the help

Oh well, it gives everyone that buys a used one a heads up that this issue does happen, and that it's fixable, and not the "end of the world" (aka. $100s in parts) if the gun stops working due to the issue. ;)
