Silicone Oil Alternative?
 

Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong area, but I was just wondering if the only place to get silicone oil is by ordering online? Is there another brand of silicone oil that say canadian tire or another sporting goods store might sell? I did a little research but couldn't find anything in these forums.

I have heared that hobby shops that sell RC cars and trucks have a light shock oil that is like a 0.5w and it works well. Just what I've heard though.

Hmm, I'll look into that, thanks. Any other suggestions people?

Just know more or less what you need, there are a LOT of kinds of lube out there.

That's why I was asking, I didn't know if Rona or Home Depot sold silicone oil. I'll dig around and see what I can find and let you guys know. Thanks for the replies

Before I found some silicone shock oil at a hobby store, I used SuperLube from home depot. Not sure what was in it...but it distinctly said no petroleum distillates.

Im sure all home depots carry diffrent things, unfortunetly the home depot in my town (saskatoon) only carrys the 3 in one silicone oil spray which isnt so good for our guns. Our Rona and Canadian tire dont carry it either, but we do have a local hobby store retailer that sells it. I spose when ya get down to it, if you cna do the foot work you can always find what ya need.

Hobby stores that carry r/c cars have silicone oil used as a shock damping oil. You can also find silicone oil at sewing machine shops, but I don't know what viscosity they carry.

Try to get the lowest weight oil you can. In the RC car world, that's probably 5wt or 10wt oil.

Oil I provide under the Airsoft Innovations label is 1.5wt.

Actually in the begining I was usin sewing machine oil but switched to RC cause it was better and alittle bit cheaper.

Try you local Fitness Depot or similar gym equipment type store. As I found out from a friend, treadmill decks (the supporting part under the belt, which in turn often contains rubber) need to be lubed semi-regularly, and many models require 100% silicone lubricant.

Usually comes in a pump-spray bottle.

Or Other silicone based lube as long as it has like no chlorine and no petroleum distiliate mixed with it ?
