The SIG-Sauer P226 pistol was developed as an improved, high capacity version of the P220, specially for the US XM9 trials of 1982-84. The P226 was one of just two pistols that nominally passed all of the technical requirements for these trials, but at the last moment it lost to the other design, the Beretta 92SB-F, on the basis of the overall cost. Despite this, the P226 quickly became one of the most popular service pistols, being used by police, military and security forces, as well as by many civilian shooters, around the world. Initially available in 9mm, it was subsequently adapted to .40 S&W and .357 SIG calibers, which are extremely popular in the USA. In fact, the P226 was the first pistol to be chambered for the .357 SIG, a high velocity, high penetration 9mm cartridge, preferred by many American highway patrol services as well as by the US Security Service

shipping and retailler feedback

Well I ordered from A&A airsoft and I was more than pleased with their service, it was more than fast especially with xpresspost wich was pretty cheap, they packed everything (green-gas, 4000 bbs, and the gun package) very securely and made sure that nothing was loose. I even received a letter thanking me for buying from them and encouraging me to buy from them again and they hope I liked the service, wich I totally loved.

First impression

Well, my first impressions were just absolutely great! With the letter I was more than pleased, the gun was securly placed in a styrofoam box with a picture of a real-steel p226 on the front wich was made out of cardboard. When I openned the box my first action were to take the gun and feel it, the gun is soooooooooo heavy and so well made, no barrel, mag wobble. In the box there was a bb loader wich I find pretty useful, a color manual, 100 .20g bbs, a magazine and 3 targets. Altough I didn't like the fact that the manual was not in english, no disassembly instruction for starter users, the title on the box read "full-metal gun" wich is not good for costums.

feeling and looking

I do not have anything to say, the feeling is just perfect, the gun is soooooo heavy, it almost weighs as much as a vsr-10, the weight is equally distribute and feels just nice to my big gozilla hands. The fact that the gun is full metal also adds sooo much to the realistic level, tough it would look 2x better with trademarks as the gun looks a little plain without them. The only trademark you will find is on the grip wich is made out of abs plastic and reads "KJWORKS". The picatinny rails are also a great adition to the socom look and would be very appreciate for people that likes to mount 3040592 accessories on their guns. The ironsights wich are not adjustable are pretty easy to use and to get fast acquisition sighting. I do not like the fact that the grips are made out of cheap abs plastic, they are confortable but the material just doesnt feel right with a gun that has a great level of external quality, also I do not like the facts the sights aren't adjustable, because the stock barrel isnt THAT precise so the bb may fly sideways sometimes, still if you play with your gun and learn how to use it that wont be a big issue.

feeling, appeal and level of detail http://www.youtube.com/img/icn_star_full_19x20.pnghttp://www.youtube.com/img/icn_star_full_19x20.pnghttp://www.youtube.com/img/icn_star_full_19x20.pnghttp://www.youtube.com/img/icn_star_full_19x20.png

performance and shooting

After I bought a propane adapter and a 6-pack of coleman propane tank I went outside. I filled up the mags wich was leaking a little, I solved the problem by tightning the allen screw at the bottom of the mag near the fill hole. I then popped the bbs in the mag with the speedloader wich is pretty fast, I set a target of about 5x5" at approximatly 20', I did not set the hopup and I use .20g vfc perfect bb. 18 time out of 23 I hit in a 3" radius from the bullseye, i then set my hopup and then got 21 out of 23 shot in a 3.5" radius from the middle. The blowback action was crisp and hard, the velocity seemed stable until the last 5 shots wich are not very powerful yet precise, the full metal slide also helps in the recoil, still a recoil spring would greatly increase the fun-factor and performance. The decocking lever is a great addition to an already good looking and performing airsoft gun. I do not expect nothing more than that for a stock gun wich is a great addition to any serious player's arsenal, the gun shoots flawlessly and good, the accuracy out of the box is great and as for the blowback it is more powerful than a desert eagle (tm) hardkick and it is still upgradable. For the performance out of the box I give it a 5...honnestly just shoots great as long as it works.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
upgradability

NO...NO...NO why haven't you guys [KJW] copied the TM version it would have been a perfect p226! There is almost no upgrades for this gun, the mag aren't interchangable (kjw mag fit TM guns), altough some upgrades are the same for the TM version i.e inner barrel, outer barrel(some minor grinding necessary), recoil springs but not much upgrades available for the KJWORK version.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some final advices

1- I do not recomend you play much at disassembling the gun too much, you do not want to break any parts since they are not interchangable between the TM.
2-I would give you as an advice to buy an enhanced loading muzzle, a recoil spring and hammer spring and maybee an inner barrel that is secondary
3-buy the trademark version if you desire a realistic look, without them it looks kinda..plain.
4-buy the propane adapter v4! you will not regret it, propane tanks go out for about 3$ a bottle and lasts longer than a green gas tank will at 1/4 the price.
5-do NOT take a walk with your gun...you will get shot
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

pros.
-god damn heavy!feels so good
-good accuraty for a stock gun
-good and flawless blowback action
-decocking lever actully works great
-full metal construction like all KJW guns
-worth the price...really
-easy disasembly
-comes well packed

cons

-interchangability between tm,tanaka and kjw SUCKS!
-loading muzzle might break eventually
-non adjustable sights
-el-cheapo abs grips
-title on the box that is a little..seizure-friendly
-manual language...

all in all..

All in all the KJW sig p226 is a great pistol, for the price you get a full metal super heavy pistol that looks the exact way a fat-ass pistol should look like, the blowback action is neat and crisp. The p226 is a very confortable pistol for Mr.John doe and Mrs.Jane doe, it combines accuraty, speed, confort, and level of detail a respected weapon should look like, altough I do not recomend this gun for "super-intense" players because of it's reliability that needs to be proven and it's interchangability between more comon Tokyo Marui's version. This is THE pistol of choice for persons that want a good quality pistol but does not want to speed allot on it.

Are you sure about that? It was my understanding that the nozzle, and a number of other parts of the blowback assembly are interchangeable with no, or minor mods?

Krookedatmosphere March 14th, 2007 00:58

what work is need to put in the inner barrel and recoil and hammer spring
or is it striaght drop in

stokes March 14th, 2007 01:00

Straight drop in, no work needed.

Sp0r3 March 14th, 2007 03:49

good review indeed...

I've had my KJW P226 full metal since Xmas, & have been meaning to get around to writing a review, but found so many on the web, I simply never bothered. BUT, this was an excellent review in & of itself.

Well done.

The only thing missing was the cost of gun itself.

Mr.Planters March 14th, 2007 07:09

well, as for the price, I did not want to put one. A&A sells it for 279 and 007 airsoft goes for about 375 so...

and as for the hammer and recoil spring they are interchangeable,as for the minor and outer barrel some filling has to be done but nothing big.

and sorry for my french that might have take place in the review

squidzzz March 14th, 2007 17:24

I bought mine from buyairsoft.ca for $260 and it came with a foam lined hard case with sigsauer p226 molded on it. Very happy with it as well

Graham March 14th, 2007 20:31

Mr.Planters March 14th, 2007 20:31

its a shocker and a nerve..but sorry these were the only 2 pic I had :(

Graham March 14th, 2007 20:32

eeewwww nerve!!

Amazing KG3 March 14th, 2007 21:16

That was a great review! I think it was so well, ill ask you if i can use it as a stencil for my reviews! I just bought the same gun, mines trademarked though from buyairsoft.com. recoil and hammer spring are on the way, as well as a new muzzle loader. I find it to be alot like the real steel version one. Great trigger pull and kick back! My only issue as it doesn't offer any external safeties!

Mr.Planters March 14th, 2007 21:19

well the real one doesnt have a safety

and ill be more than please if you take this review as a stencil
