purchasing bb's
 

Hello there, quick question that i didnt know which thread to stick in, when in doubt, faq's. anyways, i have just recieved a m15a4 carbine and have to purchase some bb's, the walmart and can tire closest to my house dont sell .2 gram bb's only the .12 gram ones. do i have to ship these to me or is there any way to get them without having to wait a week for the mail ?

Ok well if you look at the top of this page there is a long blue bar.
If you look in the middle it says "Canadian Retailers" Move your mouse over
that. If you still havent found the bar press Alt-F4 and Enter Really fast.

Now in that menu there is BB Bastard and Metal Tech. Go to those sites
and contact them for costs and shipping if you cant find those and enjoy
some bbs when they arrive.

As a reward for getting bbs by yourself.. Load your gun and aim at your leg
and pull the trigger once. You will feel the pain of victory!

Many fields will sell bags also. Its cheaper to buy in bulk. If you fell, buy a case and sell off to your friends at games. Its alot up front, but you can make a few dollars in the end.
As a suggestion, I always recommend 0.25g or heavier.
IMHO, 0.20g is as useless as rehab and Lindsay Lohan.

And yeah, don't buy those Canadian Tire, or Walmart ones. They have seams and probably have inconsistent dimension. I'm not gonna trust those in my GBB. However, I have a cheap springer, and I'll use that .12g crap all I want in there. Not gonna waste my premium .20g ones.

it should be noted, that for the most part, GBBs are designed to use at least 0.25g and have a noticeable performance improvement with heavier ammo.

Didn't know that. Wouldn't they have decreased range though? Everywhere I read mostly recommends .20g. (I think).

The decrease in absolute range from using 0.25g in GBBs will be trivial compared to the increase in effective range.

decreased range isnt the same as with an AEG. An AEG, your using a measured amount of air in a cylinder...GBB, you have an unpredictable amount of expanding gas that responds differently to the amount of weight it has to push.

Using heavier ammo in AEGs helps, but try using heavy ammo in a GBB and you'll find it to be an incredible improvement in effective range and accuracy.

When I run out of my new bad of .20g (3000rd, which will probably no be for a long time), I'll try heavier ones. :P

What's the difference in preformance between "premium" BBs and "other" BBs of the same weight and cost? I don't see seams in either one.

Some crappy bb's have seams, air bubbles, or the material isn't as high grade as others (ie, they will crack/explode in peices when they hit something or even in your gun!).

Never, never, never cheap out on bb's. Last thing you want to do is take your gun appart because a bb exploded in the hop up.

BB Bastard, Maxi BB's, Metal Tech and TM are the one's i recommend. I personaly use 0.30g Maxi BB's (expensive but worth it when you do long range shooting).

For a AEG stick with 0.25g imo.

Ronan, dont moderate please, its better that he revives an old thread somewhat on topic than making a whole new one. February isnt something to worry about. KSC perfects as well are good bb's, for regular AEG's in the open or through brush, .25 are what you want. The good quality bb's are polished so they dont have obvious seems that might catch your barrel or what not.. Not that pricey either, and well worth it.

bb bastards are great, but all bb's have some flaws. when i fired a .20 bb bastard bb, the whole thing exploded in my USP. i had to field strip the gun to get it all out. parts in the barrel, under the recoil spring even in the trigger mech (yeah i don't know how either). however if you stick with quality the chances of this happing are FAR less then with low quality. just don't go "OMGZ a TM bb FAILED!!1!one!!" if it ever happens to you. and IMHO i think that all the "competition grade/premium/professional/uber l33t awesome" titles they give these are gimmicks anyway. hell my palco shitty tippmann XT800 carpsoft aeg was "professional grade" ...yeah right.
