Another black mark for airsoft. This time on Edmonton Transit.

Edit: It still pisses me off that the media either doesn't know the difference between a rifle and a machinegun or just says "machinegun" to overhype the story. For those who don't get the Edmonton Sun, the guns they seized were a Beretta M9 handgun and an M4 and a couple of bottles of BB's.

At least they were charged.
This keeps up, you'll see this stuffed banned and you can't blame them.

This article doesn't seem... as much of a big deal, as the last one. Although this one is more of a criminal thing, it doesn't talk about how airsoft should be banned, or have anti-airsoft police quotes. It just says that they threatened with replica BB guns. Using a replica in this manner is illegal and it happens all the time anyway.

Sky isn't falling... I doubt this will have any impact on us. A criminal or two did a stupid thing, they will get charged. That's all.

Never the less, that was very stupid of them to do.

Looks like we gotta step up our game to seperate us more definely from these retards and criminals who continue to do this shit.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why we have voluntary age verifications.

I'm not really worried about the article saying "Airsoft BAD!" since it doesn't mention anything about airsoft in it. It's probably just a case of a couple of kids taking their guns to show off to their friends at school, or at their friends' place etc. It's just disappointing how this incident just gives people more reason to push to have it banned in Canada.

And yet some retailers (not you Miles, you rock) continue to sell to minors... Or sell to their "parent" knowing full well it's going to a 15-16yo.

If I was a retailer, I'd ask standard questions such as "will this airsoft rifle be for you or someone else?" Bloggins answers "oh, it's for my 14yo son" ..what's the correct answer folks?

A) Will that be paypal or credit card?
B) I'm sorry, we don't retail to minors, please have your son/daughter come and see us when he/she is 18.

Ultimately the rifles/pistols come from somewhere... really, I don't hold the minors running around with these items as much as the retailers whom only see dollar signs and have no regard for the well being of the sport.

Reading this article it seem that the police has traumatised more peoples than the kids. Althougth no doubt the Aeg should have been better concelled or simply not brougth on public transportation.

The retailer really has no business asking those questions.

When you see under-age kids who get into trouble like this, its because their not informed. I know if I didn't come here and learn the laws and rules before buying a gun, I would be getting into trouble to.

So really, you can say, o their under-age and its those kids causing the problems. Yet, even someone 18+ could do the same thinbg if they didn't know. But most likely not cause they may know a bit more about the laws, but still.

Seems like the tactical unit pointing their guns at the passengers caused more emotional harm to the passengers than the two guys who had pellet guns in the duffle bag.

Yah, they say they take these kinds of matters very seriously. Yet they had no thoughts on how to do it without causing so much emotional stress to the other passengers.

Yet, I guess they were just concerned about making sure these people didn't do anything. But in their mind, they probably thought they were real guns..

Exactly...how many more subway, school, mall incidents are going to happen with replicas before people start talking tighter control?

More applicable charges is a good thing...the more people are charged, the more people think twice about showing off their replica in the public park.

I think better control is in order.

The worst part is these retailers are, are so blind by the dollar, they can't see in the end THEY are going to kill their own businesses when these kids get airsoft banned outright.

Bingo. Unfortunately "true" business people typically don't give a damn about the sport OR the business they're engaged in. They'll simply find something else to diversify into and continue being a business owner in another type of product or service. Rarely do people these days do anything for the love of something; it's all about the Bordens.
