ABS?
 

How does low metallic content ABS (KSC's specifically) compare to metal in terms of ductility , and melting points?
I've read some polymers can withstand alot of abuse, just trying to get an idea of what it CAN/CAN'T stand up to.

Well I would say it depends on which metal, greatly.

As for plastic against plastic, CA glass fibre G36's feel a thousand times better and stronger than the TM stuff. Everything TM I've felt must be low metallic content because it usually feels like a Walmart piece. I am curious as to what this glass fibre can stand up too as well.

That's so false. TM have very good ABS bodies ( except for Armalites )

oh yeah? Well there ARE exceptions, such as the Aug Civvie/Mil-spec , M14 , AK spetz(all of which I have held), but that's about it... I hear the FA-MAS is utter shit , though. There's alot of shit floating around, about TM's build quality...

The FAMAS is nearly a 10 15? year old model. TM uses very good quality plastics, and the cosmetic finish on their plastic parts is unrivalled. Armalites bodies have some thin points on them, however, where plastic isn't always ideal.

There's a reason TM's perform and last as well as they do: Marui has been at this for a long time, they are the original large-scale AEG manufacturer. While other companies produce very good models, and metal bodies start to really put TM to task, they are still playing catchup to TM's overall standard of engineering.

Some of the older TM models are just not up to our modern standards sometimes, such as the FAMAS, M16 and UZI, but usually that's reflected in their price.

Acrylnitrile butadene styrene also know as ABS has been used for functional and field tests - from wind tunnel testing to camera mounts on a M1A Bradley tank and a spray gun running at 60 psi. So it should be tough enough for the body of an airsoft gun... and if it isn't I would like to know what you do with your guns. :) hope it helpd

Yeah, I guess I forgot how fast the years went by. Some of TM's early models must be pushing 15 years now.

Again you're wrong , Kos. The Famas is REALLY durable. Some guys i know have had it for over 6 years and it's still in top shape. Yeah the body is a bit creaky but that can be over if you have 5 min of spare time and some electric tape. All TM bodies are really god , except for ARs.
