Not just that...

Too bad the damn thing shoots only 12g capsules.

They could have at LEAST had the OPTION of external air.

I'm wondering if it's got a regulator. As a semi-only, and not having a spring to wind, it would make for a nice marksman/sniper rifle setup, as long as you can get consistent gas pressure.

according to redwolf there is an adaptor for an external tank. my only concern is, is it actualy semi or do you have to cock it for each shot, and would it fit in ics guns?

well if it can take CO2, it can take HPA and thats a very good news for a sniper platform

It's semi for sure. Check out the Madbull forum on Arnies.

I seriously doubt it will fit in ICS M4 guns, just because no other mechbox does, it doesn't seem this one would either. Unless there was some intense mods, which could be done for sure, but maybe not a good idea.

And yeah.. I didn't read that. I was just thinking of the older news I read. Oops.

Isn't this basically the same as old school airsoft, i mean if you have a external gas source, it will just be the same as before running around with a tank on your back?

Yup.. But those are expensive, hard to find, hard to replace, and impossible to find metal bodies, accessories and other things that work with them.

Most Canadian airsofters weren't around then anyway.

Seems like airsoft is going backwards and more like paintball.

Not really, if it's semi and you're doing a sniper setup, and you're getting say 50 "good" shots per 12gr CO2 powerlet (they claim 70-80, I'd say that might be optimistic, specially if you're shooting 400-ish), it's useable.

OTOH, people using a FSBE AAV could use a small CO2 bottle disguised as a HABD bottle

One of those pushing 500 fps in a semi-only SR-25 running 20-round realcaps would be waaaaay cool......

DuffMan January 22nd, 2007 01:42

Bump form the grave, has anyone gotten their hands on one of these?

bean January 22nd, 2007 06:55

The reviews say there crap to the extreme. They double feed a lot and madbull has decided to not sell them anymore

There is another alternative. The guys on classicairsoft.net have been using the Monster Airsoft Workshop electropneumatic mechbox. Essentially, it's both battery-powered and gas-powered. The battery is used to power the gears with a stock spring - this controls ROF and feeds the bb's. There is no piston, and gas is used as the propellant. Obviously, it's still capable of full-auto. However, the price ($750 or so USD) for what is essentially a stock gun TM with gas conversion is too steep for many people.

Currently it's only available for V2 and V3 mechboxes, but he did also build a TM M14 capable of 550 fps @ 135 psi.

Quote from actual user:
My initial thoughts were that this rifle was worth every damn penny I spent on it and the thought that I would rather spend the initial high buy in price for this rifle instead of spending the time and money on an AEG. The other nice initial thought I had was that it would be nice to be able to go to any game and fall within their FPS limits with just a simple regulator adjustment. However, this rifle did have one tiny point that is unavoidable. There is no recoil like the recoil you would feel on an Escort tuned MP5 or M series weapon. However, due to this gun's unique nature, I am willing to give that up.

Damnit, all I want is an SR25 with some kick. Is that so much to ask?
