I was posting this in the hopes that some of your will add you expertise to this thread. Looking for detailed info on the m-14, pics are a deffinate plus. What you like, what you don't like, pros, cons. In essence a mega review added to by owners or people of experience with this particular model. Any little tips about this gun that make it even more rock steady, scopes you may/ may not be using succesfully, how you mounted them, bi-pods that you have tried and liked /disliked why that was so. Any adjustments you have made that had favorable results. I would like you to give the most detail you could about your idea's. If you repeating the person above you, who cares as long as there is an extra tidbit info or a differing opinion ( plz don't argue the point made just tell of your experience with it). I have looked for a really good reveiw and while I have found some i find that there is a ton of info missing. Also show your m-14s off, I won't mind honest lol :cheers: . I think that even if this thread ends up with a ton of pics and a fair amout of tech data it will be a sucess in it's own right. Maybe a recount of the best shot you have had with it and what you feel contributed to it (weight of ammo, fps at the time, shot set up..... and so on) Thanks in advance to anyone willing to contribute

Only 2 things I dislike.

1: Some large battery's dont fit.

2: The charging handle rattles a bit.

Feedback wise, the TM M14 is, out of the box one of the most accurate aeg's on the market right now, with excellent hop and range. The new v7 mechbox is actually quite pleasant to work on (once you get over the intimidating carapace of moving parts surrounding it) and the entire rifle can be pulled apart right quick.

Definitely a "field gun" though - it's length definitely prevents it from being used as a cqc weapon. As a first rifle, I wouldnt recommend it, something better rounded like a m4 or an ak variant, the workhorses so to speak would better suit a new player.

I've handled it but not fired it, played along side it a few times. I can honestly say there's a deep rooted sense of jealousy everytime I see a TM14. Not only because it's a really good gun, but also because it's so long that even if I bought one, I most likely couldn't wield it comfortably/effectively.

The only cons I have are thus:

I don't have one ;) and while using my friend's I had a major hankerin for my vertical grip. Shame that a vertical grip would look absolutely awful on an M14.

Actually...yes, but if it was crafted with a wood kit you made yourself, and it was part of the front handle, I think that would look pretty good.

I cant really tell you the cons or pro's about the M14, but I can tell you it is definatly a good gun to be using.

i love mine to pieces. the design has some small issues with it but the pro's ccompletely rape the cons and thus make it worthwhile. for one, the inner barrel is a little loose in the outer which fucks up some shots, but is easily remedied with a little teflon tape. the hopup twists in the reciever which caused me to have to fire whole mags swerving a little to the left or right which was REALLY frustrating, but again helped with some teflon loving.
i definitely won't call it easy to take apart. it's definitely one of the most difficult aeg's to disassemble, but as with most things it becomes a breeze with practise.
i still get occasional feeding issues but the accuracy is astounding, and this is coming from someone who played the last two years as a b/a sniper. for practicality i'd take it over a bolt action anyday, gameplay wise i sometimes pine for my old L96, it was definitely more challenging ;).
another gripe about the m14 is the relatively annoying factor of getting short 7.62 pouches. oh, and real steel wood stocks, with heavy mods of course, are compatible.

in short it rules but it costs lots of money, has some small issues and is a bitch to take apart, definitely do it with supervision or have a gunsmith take it apart.

one thing i REALLY love about it is that it's so universal in terms of kit. when i'm done my wood kit, i'll have one setup with a VN handguard to go with my vietnam webbing and another with a ris, harris bipod and m1 scope for my modern countersniper/sniper setup. till then, i do a mishmash of all eras and countries but it still doesnt look out of place:

Is there any black stock available? Fake wood and OD just don't do it for me.

there are real steel black stocks as well. not sure about fitment

I'm interested to hear what internal changes other have made to increase accuracy and fps. I've been thinking about changing to a 6.04 tightbore. Anyone know the length of the inner barrel? I seem to find different mm listed in different places. I'd rather only take it apart once.
BTW, thanks for the advice manchovie; my harris bipod and podloc are on the way!!
Also found a real M14 stock and handguard and am going to do the conversion as soon as it gets here. Love this M14!
Got a couple sweet kills last night through the scope.

Barrel is 510mm long.

barrel is 500mm long and has slightly different attaching points for the hopup (two small cuts on the sides are moved towards the back of the barrel a bit, shorter hopup sleeve too)
i've got the pdi 6.05mm barrel and love it. my groupings have tightened substantially.
