First gun comparison
 

Hey guys,


So im very new to airsoft and I plan on going the rental route a couple times before I buy, but as a long time FPS player im kind of really excited to think about buying my first gun and modding it.


That being said, I dont know much about physical airsoft guns besides what ive researched lately and im looking for some opinions/lessons here.


The gun im looking at getting as my first is this

The youtube reviews on it seem great and I was told in-store it's a very solid stock gun to begin with.


Im just curious as to what the difference is, as vague or as much detail as you like, between this gun and say a lower price range like this:

I picked these specifically because it seems like tippman and VFC are top tier brands where ares is a step down, but also because these are all available at my local store and my local field (I think) rents out to players the Ares m4.

FWIW as of right now im pretty set on the VFC given all the praise Ive heard about it. just looking for more opinion and information so I can understand more about airsoft guns in general.

VFC is the only good choice really. The Ares have lots of proprietary parts, which makes fixing and upgrading them a hassle. The Tippman is a weird contraption with no available parts or upgrades and really only works well on HPA, the CO2 option is crap.

here is the basic run down for you: the VFC you picked is a high end AEG, meaning it uses battery. AEG tend to be cheaper, easier to fix and require less maintenance.

Tippman on the other hand is a gas operated gun. pay attention to the small air nozzle under then grip. They are generally more realistic, more powerful and fancier for that matter.

If it is your first gun then go for AEG for sure. VFC may be an overkill in terms of price and quality. Just make sure the FPS for whatever gun you buy is within the limit of where you want to play.

The VFC and honey badger are both good choices.
The ARES is much more proprietary in terms of externals and some internals, but overall a pretty solid gun.

Thanks I think that sums it up for me, I definitely want an AEG over gas powered and it seems the VFC brand is made to last. Im not really into the idea of having a blowback or anything like that anyway

Thanks for the tip. Im not too worried about cost and I keep things like this in good condition so if I don't really get into airsoft then it will be soon enough to have good resale value. Luckily my local store also owns the closest field to me so Ill be able to get a good FPS set for fields in my area

I think my mind is pretty made up here, I definitely appreciate the knowledgeable and helpful replies I've gotten so far on ASC. Cheers guys

Before I make a choice of which gun I want is I do a youtube search of the gun and look at the posts of the gun and also check out the reviews on the forum here using the search button. I like to read the pros and cons of the gun and then make my decision whether or not to get the gun

VFC:
-awesome everything
-needs a new tappet plate and piston

honey badger:
-most internals aftermarket compatible where it counts, but pretty solid all round.
-super lightweight
-some proprietary parts that don't break down very often and are readily available from ARES
-Need programmer to switch between 7.4 and 11.1 lipo

Honestly just buy one of the two. All guns break down at some point. The important thing is both can be FIXED easily.
