[Solved]Best way to get out a stripped screw?
 

damn the we g17 hopup is so hard to open..
the first screw unscrewed so easy..then the second one just stripped with a touch....I saw another topic from 2014, but is buying another hopup the only way? it's expensive to buy another one with 21 USD + shipping..

and yep, I was trying to swap out the stupid long barrel....i guess for the meantime i can only use it with the silencer.....

btw I tried using a rubber band but of course that screw is so tight...also I don't have a heat gun in case it has lock tight in there...they baited me so hard from the first screw being so easy...

Tried:
1. Hammering a flat head
2. heat the hopup with a heat gun
3. different size screw drivers

all didn't work...

Solution: so we just drilled the head out with a small drill bit and then used pliers to unscrew the rest of the screw...
There was lock tight on it...i don't think its glue because it's blue...however blue lock tight shouldn't be THAT tough..or they put both? if they did...WHY!! just WHY!!

I fixed a WE F series the other day with the same problem, I got it out by rounding the screw hole with the Philips head bit and then finding the right size torx bit and hammering the back of the screw driver till the torx bites into the stripped screw. when you remove it put alot of downward pressure to prevent the torx bit from jumping and striping the screw further.

Put it on a mouse pad or similar

Put the first screw back in tight,

Use a type of screwdriver that lets you put your weight into the screw to wind it out. You can try supergluing the screwdriver into the first screw.

I've taken apart several hundred WE pistol hop ups. WE hop up screws are some of the shittiest screws you'll ever find, some of them come stripped from the factory.

1. Always use the correct bit, apply lots of pressure to ensure it does not slip.
2. If you feel it slipping, don't continue the same way. You will strip it.
3. If it is stripped, hammer in a small flathead, the screws are soft and the flathead should be roughly the same size as the hole.

Those screws are glued in, not loctite, much bigger pain in the ass.
Just did one recently, heat with torch first then unscrew. Still takes a lot of downward force to prevent slippage. If its already stripped you might be boned. Screwout set is just gonna tear the head off the screw.

These guys are worth their weight in gold! Seriously everyone should have a set but I don't believe the smallest one is small enough for those tiny jeweler/electronics screws in the hop up.

only sunday I can get to work which has a crap ton of tools and a heat gun to work with...
