Selector plate problems

Hello all its been a while since I posted anything . Any how I have a little issue on my hands and wondering if anyone has had the same.

Let's start off with I was rebuilding an older I think jg gear box out of my very old ca,jg mixed m4.evert thing was smooth till I got to the safety selector plate.

I purchased a modified m16 selector plate and safety block as the old one had worn down. Alright it assembled easy enough seemed to work fine out side the aeg body. Once you drop the gear box into the body and try it the safty is not engaging the trigger.

You have to push the little lever on the outside past the 90 degrees it's ment to sit at. The selector plate does not have enough travel to engage the safety basicly . Wondering if the dimensions from old to new have changed over the years, mech box is about 15 years old bought it back from hangs shop in early 2000,s . Would a new mech box solve this. That is my thought buy a new lonex shell have a lot less issues .or is there a solution you techs have.

Looked on YouTube and Google most problems pulled up there have to do with semi going full auto definitely not the problem. No instead there is no safe function on the rifle. Any help would be appreciated as the project is very close to completion once this having no safety is sorted out .

modified? Do you mean both the selector plate and safety are "Modify" brand? It's not very clear.

Yes both are modify brand

Yeah sorry was typing on my phone in the work shop . Auto correct hates brand names. Yes both the selector plate and safety block parts are modify I thought if I bought the same parts they would be compatible

They most likely are, but the gearbox you put them in isn't.
