Tight bore barrel brand
So got to take out my krytac spr and wow I love this gun. Has ton of range and great hop up but I want to try and shrink my bbs groupings at farther ranges if possible. Was doing some Research and seems like I could use a tighter bore barrel. Heard good things of mad bull 6.03 and also promo 6.05. Could the all mighty tight bore experts give me a recomendations on bore size and manufacturer? Google fu is giving me answers from 2012 and I'd like to think there been some changes in 3 years.

Get a Prometheus EG 6.03 or a PDI 6.05.
|
Just so happens the three best are prometheus 6.03, PDI 6.05 and Orga 6.13

Ok so did some research and supposedly comes with a 383mm 6.05. Now I'm having issues finding correct length or are you able to chop barrels? Was thinking going promo 6.03 since I already have 6.05

You can chop barrels, but there is a risk. First try R-hopping your gun and maybe try a heavier weight BB. Make sure your BBs are high quality, like BB Bastards. What's your FPS? If it's low enough, adding a little jam plus a better hop-up can help with those heavier weight rounds. Prometheus barrels are probably your best. 6.04mm is also a beautiful barrel grouping, I really think it has become the standard. Out of what you mentioned though, I'd go with the 6.03mm.

yea ill try giving some heavier BBS a go and im not sure of fps as the chrony was down at the course. i just figured my hopup was good as i didn't have to put much to any over hop to hit across our outdoor courses. ya i also watched some videos on cutting barrels too after i asked the question haha not sure whats the best route between dremmel or copper pipe cutter.

pipe cutter will give you a perfect cut, but it crushes the end down. with a dremel you can cut it crooked. without the option for lathe parting it, i'd use a tube cutter then ream the end open with counter sink or tapered reamer
counter sink: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...ountersink.jpg reamer (tapered): https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...amer_K-442.jpg |
That's exactly what I was thinking of doing. Unless I can bribe someone at machine shop at work to cut it for me haha
|
as long as you can cut it straight and recrown the end of the barrel, you can do whatever. The taper at the end (crown) is important to the flight characteristics of the bb when it leaves the muzzle.

Wtf guys? Cutting the barrel?
Just buy a 363mm barrel instead. Theres no difference in performance between a 363 and 383 barrel. |
I can't believe people are recommending these methods of cutting a barrel... Unless you have proper machinery, don't cut your barrel. Cutting a barrel without proper tooling is like finishing an 80% lower with a dremel instead of a milling machine.
Just buy a 380mm Prometheus. http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol..._14_5_inch.htm |
cutting isn't ideal, but it's been done.

Because I'm lazy, I would go with what ThunderCactus or Pesto suggested. Why cut down a barrel if you dont have to?
