M4 Grip Mounting Question
Ever video I've seen/thread I've read on swapping an M4 grip says/shows to use 2 screws diagonal from each other to hold it on. Is there any reason for doing this, rather than using 4? Seems to me that using 4 would keep it a lot more stable.

Its just the way it is designed.
The gearbox is actually what holds the grip stable the screws just stop it from sliding off they dont really provide stability at all. |
So 2 should be enough no matter what, then? Just seems wrong to me
|
Yup the screws only stop the grip from sliding off. The gearbox is what provides the strength from it twisting or breaking off.
Edit. A real m4 only uses 2 screws to hold the grip on. A we gbb m4 uses 1. On real and gbb the lowwer has a simaler shape to the gearbox that the grip slides onto and again the screws only hold it from sliding off they dont really give and strength to the grip from breaking off |
Huh real AR's only use 1 screw to hold the grips on last time I checked

Be aware of which hole you use. Depending on the screw length, it can put press on the wires and cause them to rub and eventually short plus they can be dislodged and contact the pinion gear. |
Cool. Not that i doubt that as thats all that would be needed but the one m4 i took apart years back had 2 screws.
Was a plain old m4 (not an a1 or anything) |
Coolio, thanks guys. Was just wondering because my G27 grip is a bit wobbly, which I imagine can't be good, but the screws are in as far as they'll go

Shim the grip against the mech box
|
Hmm. Don't know why I didn't think of that. Will do so later on, thanks
