G26 Advanced

Okay i recieved my Glock 26 Advanced about an hour ago and wanted to see the insides so i pull down the slide release lever and the slide goes forward a little but wont go any further what am i doing wrong why wont it come off.
I also notice the front compensator or what ever it is moves forward and know it wont go back over the hop up thats pissing me off other wise i would put it back in place and just push the slide back in place and leave it alone.
any help would be apreciated.

The hammer must be down in order for the slide to come off.

How far off do you have the slide? In that picture you're indicating the outer barrel won't go over part of the recoil rod assembly, is that correct? If thats the case, you may want to try to pull the outer barrel upwards us much as you can, while trying to slide it back, there is always some play between the outer barrel and the slide. At the same time use a precission screwdriver to push the recoil rod down. That may work, assuming thats the problem.

Is the hammer decocked? If it is, thats what is stopping the slide from coming off.
