Airsoft trigger pull weight vs RS

Hey guys,
I purchased the new TM M9A1 off another ASC member last night, and I brought it home, and I've found that the trigger pull is really light compared to my KJW M9s (I have several, and their trigger pull seems to be consistent across all of them). I've only ever fired the KJW M9s, so I don't know about the weight in other brands. I've never shot RS, and am pretty bad at judging weights when I lift something with my arm, much less pulling something with my finger.

So my question is: is the stock trigger pull weight of an M9 close to a KJW M9's pull weight, or is it plus or minus?

The TM, aside from feeling very plastic-y (I have yet to lube it up though) feels really nice, but the trigger pull weight difference vs the KJWs is really throwing me off.

its a TM .. its supposed to feel plastic-y :smack:

if you really wanted to know you could get a pull gauge that will measure the strength of each trigger pull

For RS the standart combat trigger pull is around 5-7 pounds of pressure on a m4 . Of course you can get trigger that reach to ounces of pressure... But that is not something you want on a assault rifle more on a dmr. I personnaly like a 2-3 pound trigger on my ar for service rifle while the wife prefers a 5-7 pound trigger. My IPSC 1911 has a trigger pull of 7 ounces with a travel of .045 inches while my "tactical" 1911 has a trigger pul of 4.5 pounds with a trigger travel of about .300 inches.

IIRC my friends m9 had a 14/6 pound trigger and mussy as hell to booth

Vondnik.....lol

As for an M9, a real pistol is always going to have a heavier trigger pull than an airsoft pistol.

For a pistol it also depends if you're pulling SA or DA. DA will be affected by the stiffness of the hammer spring, among other things.

If you're talking about SA pull then it may have more to do with the sear/sear spring and/or trigger spring (offhand I'd say those springs can be swapped out for stiffer ones without affecting anything else).

Dustin: I know it's supposed to feel plastic-y, but I have both cansoft and metal KJWs, and the cansoft feels better than the TM's plastic out of the box. But that's beside the point; I didn't mean it to sound like I was complaining.
I don't have immediate access to a pull gauge, so I thought I'd ask how it "should" feel relative to a KJW, which I know a lot of people already own.

Vondnik: Thanks for all the references. I was looking more for information on the stock pull of the M9, but you kinda made me realize that people adjust their triggers to what is most useful for them.

Styrak: Thanks, that kind of answers my question best - a real pistol would have a heavier trigger pull than the KJW.

Drake: I'll look further into the springs for the TM, if I find I like the heavier pull better.

I think I'd careful about putting a heavier spring in with plastic parts.

I'd look more at the trigger and sear. But once again being plastic there maybe is not much you can do.
