AGM Sten: Not Firing (Trigger Problem?)

Recently acquired an AGM Sten and gamed it a few times (loved it). During a game recently, the gun stopped firing.

I took it apart down to it's gearbox to investigate the problem. When I attached the battery and pulled the trigger, the trigger mechanism (Which is proprietary) gives off a spark when the trigger is pulled. Anyone know of any solutions to fix this?

Would highly appreciate any help from anyone.

Cheers

Trigger mechanism is the switch, it might have carbon buildup or paint or other dirty crap on it clean it off it that doesn't work, file the trigger part that comes into contact with the contacts until it is shiny silver.

Thanks Guys, I'll give it a go

Gave it a go, the trigger piece is now shiny silver and I'm still having the same problem! :(

Try cleaning the two copper contact plates on the other end of the trigger.
Afterwards put a screwdriver between the two copper contacts, the mechbox should cycle.

Ok, did that, and it cycles! :D But now whenever I attach the battery the gun fires...and doesn't stop until i disconnect the battery :S

Are the copper contacts bent by any chance? The Current flows from one contact through the trigger to the other copper contact to complete the circuit to run the mechbox. If by any chance the Copper contacts are crossed, or touching each other the mechbox will cycle.

Yep, that seems to have been the problem, gun cycles now when trigger is pulled, I'll throw some rounds down range now to see if the problem is gone.

Just popped 1000 rounds through the Sten with no problems. Thank you very much for your help. It was highly appreciated! :)
