Problems with Ares G36
 

Hey guys, recently I bought an Ares G36 after doing alot of research. I am using a 7.4 Li-po with it. Today I started firing and the gun stoped shooting and when I pull the trigger it just makes a loud buzzing noise?! Whats going on? Is it broke, I can put the work into fixing it but I don't know the problem yet.

Most likely is the motor mount. Remove the motor plate under the pistol grip and adjust the motor mount with a screwdriver. It probably got loose. That's what happened to mine with the exact same gun. I am using a 9.9 LiFePO4.

its going to be an electrical issue.... That "buzzing" is your gun wanting to work but wont. It could be the motor mounts (like overkill said). Or it could be the contacts, or the wires. Hard to say which one, but good luck, Its not very fun dealing with electrical problems in an AEG. I usually just re-wire the entire gun just because i hate dealing with electrical issues

Ok so it's not buzzing at all anymore (I tightend the screw at the bottom of the pistol grip) but every so often it stops responding. It doesn't shoot. What now?

Take it to someone who knows what they're doing (gundoc). Over-the-internet diagnosis could take forever or not even solve your problem, and someone looking at the actual gun might be able to tell you what's wrong in 5 minutes.

Will do altough suggestions would be appreciated. I think it may be the Li-Po. I may have slightly overcharged and its not firing because of that. What should i try in this case?

If you slightly overcharged your LiPo, it exploded.
LiPos cannot be overcharged if you use the right charger.

Seeing as it's an ARES, you probably ran it a long time with the motor too low. In turn that probably mangled the pinion and bevel gear. The bevel is held in place with bearing bushings... if there is sideway stress (as in your motor is not in right), it can damage theses as well.

If you did not understood that, please take it to a gun doc.

styrak is right, it is difficult diagnosing. The FIRST thing you should have done is test it with a different battery. But to ME, it sounds like an electrical issue dude. Probably the contacts, They can build carbon on them fairly quickly (especially if they weren't adjusted right from the factory). But before you do anything, test with a new battery, and check the motor connectors, they wiggle loose sometimes.

Ok so i managed to spend all day and get my gearbox back togther. It shot about 20 rounds then quit on me. Same problem as before. Clicks but doesn't shoot? Help???

We are Continental Ultimate Inc, the company that distribute Ares. Your problem is due to the following reason:

1) The screw for the motor plate <-- You've done that already
2) The battery!

The main reason it can't shoot is because of your battery! 7.4 Li-po is not strong enough to pull the spring, and the gearbox.

You need at least a 9.6 and up.

I have an ares g36c. I also experienced intermittent trigger issues. (Total dead no buzz ) it got worse and worse . Wires looked pinched near gearbox . I did a complete re-wire. Gun works perfect now.
Was so happy I bought and put in an mosfet w/active breaking. I use a large 8.4v.
Not saying that's your problem , but u might want to look at the wires for a break.

There is no information in your post aside from "my gun kinda works but then doesn't", so nobody can help you here.

You went ahead and took your gun apart and may have caused additional issues, so you've lost the ability to take us through it step by step and help you debug this through differential analysis. You have two options:

1) You take huge doses of YouTube and forum threads and learn everything you can about version 3 gearboxes, wiring, motors, sector/spur/bevel/pinion gears, shimming, microswitch trigger units, compression, hopup, AoE, ARL, etc etc etc. You keep trying to fix it yourself and come to ask questions here when you have narrowed it down to one problem (as opposed to "it does not shoot" with no additional information). In short, help us help you.

2) Take it to a gun doctor or airsoft shop.

Ok so I think the next thing I will try is a new battery. I have a friend with a 9.6 Ni-mh? Is that strong enough? Or do I need to stick with Li-po?

No, your next step should be to TAKE THE GUN TO A GUNDOC FOR REPAIR.

What Slink says. And the 7.4 should be strong enough to make the gun cycle at least, it is for mine, so if it's not you've got a problem.
