Cracking open tm p90 body?

Has anyone done this? It's seems like it may be glued. Do the screws do anything?
I can't seem to find anything in anyone having done this yet?

Why would you?

there is no need to open the body to remove the internals... they come out the butt

Scouser December 14th, 2011 16:18

he accidentally melted his after stripping off his paint job and reapplying his primer...

lurkingknight December 14th, 2011 16:37

echo1 replacement body time...

pretty sure it's glued/welded along the seam, it definitely is along the top. there might be some metal pins that tension it together but they can't be pulled out unless you split the halves. I've never done it, but I've heard of people who have done it to realign the gearbox to hopup.

Some screws are real and some are cosmetic.

DarkAngel December 15th, 2011 16:19

What Danke Said.

Guardian has done this before when he posted up his P90 integrated laser mod. Hit him up for more details.

ShelledPants December 15th, 2011 16:55

I own a P90 but haven't remotely looked at the body in detail.

If I had to guess, being at work and not with the gun in hand, wouldn't TM sonically weld the plastic, and not glue it?

ThunderCactus December 15th, 2011 23:01

Pretty sure it's glued, stands to reason it's the least expensive method of putting the two halves together on a mass production scale.

Anyway, if you're replacing a damaged receiver, does it really matter how you take it apart?

PrIeSt December 16th, 2011 08:46

Has nothing to do with replacing. I was wondering if it can be split

D.Kovacs December 16th, 2011 09:00

a band saw will do it quite nicely.

White_knight December 16th, 2011 09:05

no, not even a real one was ment to be split i dont believe

I was wondering how it was done to install the laser. All the useless comments about bandsaws etc. are super helpful though. Thanks guys

simply typing in "p90 laser" in the search bar gave me this link.

I went to the vault and pulled mine out. It sure doesn't look like that body comes apart even minus the screws.

What if you go at this the other way? How does the replacement body come apart?

PrIeSt December 16th, 2011 19:59

Your awesome dave, Did you click the link in the almighty thread you found? I'm not sure why you insist on responding like an ass to every post I make. Simply don't respond to me.

Anyways....
They will both be TM bodies. so nothing different. I think I may need to message one of the members who did it, was hoping someone would see this rather than pestering someone who may be busy.
