Tornado Grenades

Debating on getting one to use. What are peoples thoughts on them? They are reusable, Very durable and can fire about 200 BBs. And gas powered.

Downside... 100 bucks :(

CQB useful
forest not so much, they hit the ground and dont spin

Ryan92 November 14th, 2011 00:05

If anything It would be used mostly for CQB. I am debating on picking one up next week. Just have to see if the local arena allows them

Excellent product.. and very useful when deployed in an Indoor environment.

Good in the field for busting bunkers .. but not much use in grass or open ground

I have had grenades that have been used 100s of times, and still going.

They are a game changer for indoor play

Ryan92 November 14th, 2011 00:12

Well, you sold me

R.I.T.Z November 14th, 2011 00:14

they are rugged and can take quite a beating, and now with the new impact grenades its even easier to clear rooms

Brian McIlmoyle November 14th, 2011 10:14

Everyone has been in those situations in a game where they think, " what I really need here is a grenade"

I always carry 2 on my rig.. indoor, outdoor .. Don't leave home without it

Like anything.. they need to be taken care of.. oil them as indicated and keep them clean and you will get plenty of service out of them.

well worth the Money in my opinion

Upper hand in CQB = Grenades

Last week I got to use both of my impact tornadoes a few times during a CQB tournament. The one that really counted during a match was against a player who was carrying a police shield and the only way to take him out was with a grenade.

It was one of my first time's using it and I fumbled a bit getting the pin out (Kept it in my mouth so as not to lose it) tossed it around the corner and heard it hit the shield and go off... What a rush to hear the guy yell "Hit - Sheild Out!"

Well worth the $

On this topic, what do you guys have to say about the impact vs timed versions? I've been leaning towards getting the impact grenade, with the (possibly misguided) idea that it could be thrown or used as a trap as in this video: Airsoft Innovations Tornado Impact Airsoft Grenade - YouTube (0:35).

That said, I guess you could roll a timed grenade, which might be easier for hitting someone around a corner. Thoughts?

Impact.. all the way

I have every version created.. and use the impacts pretty much exclusively

if you are going to have just one .. get the impact grenade

Grenades are a game changer.

As well designed as they are...the temperature dependant pull pin/lever timer versions are too variable for direct action.

Impact versions are very, very predictable...and so much easier to use in play.

The only downside is that you can't carom it off a surface.

Duds/spent grenades are nearly as effective as live ones :)

I'll agree with Brian on that one. I've seen to many timed-ones dud out, while impacts have been...devastating to the opponents. And you can be creative with them, one guy last month managed to detonate one around a corner by bouncing it on the opposing wall. Air burst anyone ?

Not for soft ground though. But in CQB, or in outside buildings (well, pretty much anywhere you can bounce them on a hard surface), they are effective.

2nd floor of the south building at CQB when Brian tossed in the dead nade? :)
that particular example is burned into my memory :D

Impact nades ftw. As alluded to, they are CQB game changers. AND SO MUCH FUN!

I think there's a promo on that all impacts grenades this month come with free distraction device kits. (check airsoftparts, etc).

Get a hi-viz colour so you can find them again. Or tape a tiny glow stick to them when playing night games.

I can make use of Impacts outside of CQB. If you're good and accurate, you can lob them against a tree trunk or off a rock right beside your target. But in outdoor situations, I'm just a lot more prone to using my M203.

The timers are... yes, flukey, but I find they are pretty good if you stringently maintain them. You should oil them a minimum of two drops on the seals once a month if not using, and definitely follow the guidelines for filling (drops every two fills). I can count on my timers going off between 4-7 seconds after the spoon is released (on the long timer setting.)

But the impacts are far more reliable. If you only carry one, carry an impact.
