Huang's MK18II 7" Rail system

Hello,

Recently bought Huang's MK18 II 7" Rail system as well as a correct Madbull barrel collar for G&P/WE receivers.

However, I can't seem to be able to install it.

First, the rail seems to be about 1/4" too long...

PS : Don't tell me I have to remove the delta ring and all that crap. I know. 'just lazy right now for pictures.

Also, there is 6 holes on the rail systems as well as 6 screws, but only 5 holes on the thingy that sits between the barrel collar and the receiver.

What am I doing wrong here?

Remove the delta ring and all that crap. Otherwise I don't see how else you're going to get it on.

Take off the front triangle sight, that system is designed for low profile gas blocks.

Even if it's 7"? I thought it could fit like this :

is it really pin point 7"? could be a problem.

I am about to install a DD 12 rail for my ICS M4, which is a similar situation to what you are trying to accomplish. For this mod, my outer barrel is 14.5", which is I've been told a standard M4 barrel length. I will be using a low profile gas block, which is probably small enough to fit inside the rail.
I am not too sure, but it appears your rail length is different than mine. What is your outer barrel length?

Looking at your recent picture, looks like you need to remove the handguard cap behind the front sight. Looks like that .25" right there?

Boyso October 10th, 2011 11:58

No I removed it before.

I installed it. To install it you ha e to remove everything.

That rail is 7.5 inches, not 7.0 inches. If it was actually 7, it would have worked. I should have mentioned this before.

Shirley October 10th, 2011 13:51

That is a 7.5.

And I'm pretty sure you can tell right away the front cap won't fit on as the rail wan't meant for that.

Damnit.

Should've researched a bit more I guess.

The MK 18 rails come with their own barrel nut that may need an optional nut tool to tighten it.

If you want to use the existing delta ring then go with the DD OmegaX rail which is designed for the stock delta ring. Just ask Huang to measure the OmegaX 7" end to end.

I run a Madbull MK18 9.5" and scrapped the heavy triangle sight and went with flip ups which looks much nicer. It also makes for easy service in the future. The rail slides off and easy access to the barrel. If you use the triangle sight, you need to hammer out those two tight pins holding it into the barrel.

Be nice. I am sure Huang would have mentioned it if he knew it. He does value everyone's business. If you have been to his store, I doubt he has the time to test everything he brings in.

I always ask Huang to verify before I buy and everything I bought from him works great.

This MK 18 is not a true Madbull DD, so dimensions and fit could be different.

Boyso October 10th, 2011 21:47

Nah I always buy from Huang and love the quality of his service and items. But it's like buying size 10 shoes and receiving size 11 shoes...

Send him a PM on the issue, he takes an effort to adjust descriptions, bring in and what not to bring in based on our comments.
