C8 Brand

Can any brand of M4 be used to make a C8. I saw some with the Guarder kit and specific handguards etc. I'm thinking of getting a KA M4 to be the base of my C8 and I was just wondering if it would work.

Thanks

A C8 is just an M4. The differences are minor overall. If you want to make a C8-looking gun,any base gun would work really if you're not intending to get a receiver with the C8 markings. If you're ok with the stock barrel and whatever markings the receiver comes with, then you're good to go.

Personally, I'd say if you want to go all out and make a genuine looking C8 with the receiver, barrel, etc, I'd just do a build from scratch, because once you get all the parts replaced, there won't be anything left of the base gun other than the internals. It will cost a lot more starting from a base gun than building from scratch.

The major external differences are:
  • Receiver with Diemaco / CF markings if doing mil version, Colt Canada markings for Law Enforcement version
  • Heavy barrel if doing the A3 variant
  • ambi fire selector and mag catch
  • tactical charging handle (mil version)
  • TRIAD rail
  • green furniture (mil version)
  • slim hand guards
  • ELCAN scope with green cover (although EOTech 552 is commonly used)
  • rubber butt pad

Hmmm never even considered doing it from scratch until now. Hrmmm, okay thanks.

airsoftdepot has C8 bodies and you can ask him if he can get more barrels...I bought the last one :(

I have one oof Huang's C8 bodies for my C8. Other than a tight mag well that needed some sanding to fit mags properly, it's been great for a couple of years now.

The only C8s I've seen without the heavy barrel are the ones with the integrated iron sight/carry handle. just an FYI. And they don't always have the ambi fire selector. Just saying this so it's not inaccurate to have a normal fire selector. Also, if you want a real C8 look, stay away from the Thermold mags; we don't use them in real life.

I used this for reference when building mine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C8_SFW#...mparison_table
IMO they always will and always have looked better with the thermold mags.....I'm not really a magpul fan, thermold are so easy to handle with gloves.

Of course...gun pron

Mine is the British Colt SFW or 119A1

I would have used a C8 body but I am way to impatient.
