Claybank 2011 - any word on the dates?
I'm planning ahead to next year, and a trip to Claybank, SK for Operation Mason Relic is an absolute must!
I need to schedule my vacation time very soon, so I'm wondering if anyone involved can reveal the dates for next year's event? (BTW, I did pose this question on the event's forum, and I did email Al, but haven't heard anything back.) |
I'm gonna pissed if I can't make it again!
|
Don't expect a date to be made until at least feb.
|
I wonder how long it'll take to drive there from Toronto

Last I heard sometime in July so as to avoid the May weather.

It's been May long weekend both times, has it not?

37 hours non-stop and you'll be in Calgary on the Transcanada, or even over the B.C. border if you go Crowsnest Pass way. I made it from the B.C. side of Hwy 93 circa Radium Hot Springs to the GTA in 35.5 hours this august... solo. Although I wouldn't recommend it, it is possible. Imho, the Ontario / Manitoba border to Regina stretch is the easiest, fastest and least police patrolled section of the 17 / 1. Just be careful round the Winipeg bypass loop and you're golden. |
Aint nothin wrong with may weather, just the people who don't check the damn forecast to prepare for the weather ;)
|
True enough Frank. That's the lesson I picked up on, after talking to guys who were at last year's event. If you're going to a major Op, be prepared for all forms of weather. :)

Just got an email from Al, and this is what he had to say:
"I'll be letting everyone know soon....not quite there yet...but soon." So, no dates yet, but soon. |
Ya you can plan for rain, I dont think many people were prepared for whatever that weather was called. Hurricane? lol
|
Torrential Downpour maybe??? lol. None the less I was totally prepared to be in the wind. The rain however I had nothing for. But the event it's self was worth it. And I plan on making the trip again. Our team is just planning like it's happening in may. Worst comes to worse we just bump our date back a bit.

I was fine with the rain. Our tents however. lol
