Tanio Koba grips on holsters

I have a Hi CAPA fitted with a TK grip on the standard HI CAPA frame. I am in the market for a holster right now and have several in mind. My only concern that is keeping me away from a Blackhawk! Serpa is the trigger lock mechanism scratching up the TK grip. Now I have absolutely no problem with my mid-frame or even my slide scratching, but my TK grip already has a little bit of its trigger guard rubbed of forming a little notch from using a Serpa. Anyone know how malleable the material TK grips are made from and if anyone else also get their TK grips scratched up?

I use a CR speed holster for my cappa, only contact points with the gun are the sides of the trigger guard (and its got a rubber/plastic pad) and the tip of the barrel, and it can fit practically ANY gun, and my TK grip shows no wear on the trigger guard

I have considered the IPSC holsters, but I wonder about their functionality on the field. I like my tactical gear and those holsters seem too race-y for me. But I am also interested in CAPS so eventually I will get one of those. Speaking of which, however, if I can find a good tactical holster I wouldn't mind using it for CAPS either.

I know you had a KJW KP-05 which has the TK grip. Did it get dented and scratched up for you, Thenooblord?

For CAPS, the holster (and mags) need to be belt mounted. With open class rigs the interpretation gets stretched a fair bit but it's still belt mounted.

If you're worried about scratches/etc...try an "uncle mike's" or "bianchi" type nylon holster. Several guys use them. Some have the finger paddle release, others are just friction/fit retention.

For CAPS it doesn't have to cover anything but the trigger guard area...for field use you might want something with more coverage.

I actually prefer belt mounted holsters and I use Serpa holsters for my GLOCK and Sig. But I love the TK grip so much that I just can't stand it scraping off from the Serpa's trigger lock. Slide and frame I don't care much about, as it adds character, but there is something about the grip that I just can't stand being chipped away. I looked at kydex holsters from Uncle Mike, Blade-tech, and others. I just wonder about whether the TK grip is resistant enough from being scraped away bit by bit by the holsters.

I would not recommend a racegun type holster for field use. It offers the pistol very little protection.

I personally like holsters that are lined, to offer more protection to the pistol, such as Safariland. I like their sexy soft suede inner lining. I have a blade tech here as well, but it doesn't have the lining, so I decided to ditch it.

I've been using a TK grip with a 1911 Serpa for a long time, and it hasn't made any marks on the grip/trigger guard.

Well I am going to get a serpa, safariland, and blade-tech to try all of them out. It's the only way I can be sure and satisfied!
