Hi-Capa Slide Jamming

Hey guys,

Having some issues with my WE Hi-Capa 5.1. The slide is getting stuck on this part:

I think its part #50, it has something to do with engaging or disengaging the valve knocker I think. It used to lock down when I pushed it down and then popped up when the trigger is pulled, now it just seems locked in the up position, which is why the slide gets hung up on it when it racks back. I've taken the gun apart a few times with no issues so I'm pretty confused as to why this is suddenly happening. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Remove the slide. Is this part jammed in the up position no matter what position the hammer is in?

If it's always stuck up in any hammer position, I suspect that the spring (#14) might be bent out of shape or that some piece of junk is in the way.

Yes that piece is always stuck in the up position no matter if the hammer is up or down. I have taken apart the valve knocker assembly and reassembled it and that piece still locks ups. I remember before that it used to move up or down dependent on how I pushed on the valve knocker with my finger. And looking at the exploded view of the manual I don't see any pieces missing.

Ok think I figured it out, that piece snapped apart:

Should be one piece

Anyone know what its called? It is pushed up and down by the valve knocker.

Thanks,

It is called a disconnector. Disconnector sets come with 2 pieces, and that's one of them.

The next question is what caused it to snap?

RacingManiac September 4th, 2010 22:00

thats actually the valve reset, this trips and reset the valve knocker.

disconnector is on the opposite side.

why did it snap? its because its shit WE....

Well the one from TM is made of crappy metal as well, but it's not something people usually upgrade...

MadMax September 5th, 2010 00:16

Is it chrome plated? I think the TM ones have a hard chrome finish which gives it good sliding lubricity. A plain aluminum part would slowly wear away the anodizing in the frame and bind in the frame. TM's firing pin lock may be crappy cast aluminum, but their chrome finish performs very well. I have had much less wear with my chrome plated Hicapa parts than with my plain aluminum WA trigger parts.

That part is not heavily loaded. All it does is pop upwards when the firing pin is pushed forwards by the hammer and latch the firing pin forwards until it's pushed back down by a surface in the slide to unlock the firing pin. I suspect that your part may have had a casting defect to start with. How old is your gun?

TM has much better material selections than most GBB brands.

For whatever reason it snapped, crappy metal, improper wear, I'm not sure.
I have found some solid stainless steel upgrade parts. But they are priceeey!

ILLusion September 7th, 2010 09:01

I have OEM Marui parts available if you need that part. Not as expensive as AS or IK, only $6.

Thanks Illusion..I'll PM yah. Cheers.

Had 2 of those snap on me before, both were WE. Had to order one from the UK as ILLusion didn't have any in stock at the time.
