radio with tracking device
Hello
I was wondering if any of you guys know of a radio with a tracking device. I lost one of my radios in the field and would of loved a way to find it. Thanks |
I've never heard of such a thing.

Garmin rhino's have that feature but it only works with those type of radios.
GMRS/FRS with integrated GPS. |

+1 dummy cording (or a better radio pouch).
Locating a radio's position is possible (radio direction finding + triangulation) but it would only work if the unit was broadcasting. |
I will look in to that solution.

The radio you're trying to find has to be broadcasting.
|
Or receiving; just broadcast while someone walks around the field listening for your voice! :D
|
It just need to broadcast it's location.
Does not need to be GPS exact but tell me how many feet or meters from the radio. Just like a transponder. Quote:

As said before the Garmin Rhino would do what you want in a radio-like unit. The team mates have to purposely broadcast their position on it to you.
The Foretrex is a wrist wearable GPS (WITHOUT radio) that can display a map (even google maps) with the location of other team mates wearing it. You don't need to specifically broadcast your position with it. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=30026&ra=true (the link to the 401 model is just one example as it is the highest price and highest featured Foretrex.) |
Interesting idea, but it does not help if I loose my radio.
The Rino solution seems to be the best for now. Thanks a lot Quote:
