mag issues

hi all fairly new to the whole airsoft thing and i recently bought an ics m4a1 that came with a high cap mage and i have not been able to get it to work.(fired one mag through it and now it dosnt feed) when i go to wind the mag there is no resistance at all is there anything i can do myself to fix it or is there anyway i can send it back to ics for a replacement as 50 rounds through a 230 round highcap should not break the mag.

any suggestions/help will be greatly apreciated

Thanks in advance Kevin

Sounds like the internals of the hicap busted. Invest in some midcaps...

i plan to but moneys a bit tight tuitions guna cost me like 7 grand this year (sadface) was hopeing for a fix or a return for the time being so i could at least use the gun

contact the retailer you got it from and see what they have to say...did they offer any warranty when you bought the gun?

Good chance the winding spring has snapped. Happens at times with hicaps, not that difficult to fix as long as you take the mag apart carefully and note where all (not that many, a couple pins, a couple gears) the little parts go and orientation. If tht spring is broken, likley it's at the base where there is a simple 90deg bend in it. If so, removing the broken peice and putting another bend with pliers in the spring, reinserting it should get it back running again. I've fixed a couple hi caps in the past that had this issue, was pretty easy to do.

If not then you can always try and borrow a mag or two from a friend next time you go to a game.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind lending one or two of my plastic midcaps to someone who at least has a gun but his mag was out of commision. AND it gets the hi-cap off the field so there's no "tactical maracas" to give away your (and your teams) position.

Either that or do what STALKER said, I know how money can be tight especially with school (I'm a student too) so I wouldn't really harp on about you must get some "real" mags now now now, it comes over time but don't go 2 years without buying some mid or low caps.

If i do go ahead with disassembling the mag it apeares to be glued together im praying its not chem welded together that would be worst case would i just pry the mag apart and hope that all the internals stay in the same spot or do you have any tricks im still waiting on the retailer i contacted to see if i can get it exchanged as i said only aprox 50 rounds have even gone through the gun since i got it brand new. so takeing it apart right now would be my very last option but having some info would be nice or just a little trick you learned to make things go faster

Thanks Kevin

how many bbs did you initially put in the mag? was it full? just to be sure that you are aware, high caps require a minimum of 50 plus bbs to function. x amount of bbs are fed up to the retaining lip and it's the x plus 1 (depends on the mag of course) that starts loading the tension on the first x. So, even though you rattle the mag, the untensioned bbs will sound like there's still some in there, but there aren't enough bbs in the reservoir to push the ones in the feed tube. Just make sure it's full.
