DIY Hi-flow valves
 

Unconventional airsoft has a page from back in 03 about diy high flow valves.. have any of you guys done this? Do you essentially just drill the hole bigger or cut down the metal in beteween them?

i have 3 Y&P MK23 mags in the mail that i would like to mod so looking for a little in put before i hack apart the new mags

easy to do...done it lots. just take a triangular needle file and file away at it. goes quick.

flush thoroughly afterwards to clean out debris.

Typically not as "nice" as purpose built hiflow's...but you'd be hard pressed to measure the difference.

Are you filing away at the metal bars that connect the top and bottom or filing the holes them self?

if the valve has 4 holes (and 4 connecting "posts")...I'd just file two opposing posts out and make it all neat and tidy.

If it had 3 holes...I'd probably try to remove the stem and drill/mill them out a bit bigger...but honestly, it'd be easier to just buy a hiflow. (I'd still do it...but would save it for a boring weekend when I want to get out of work around the house :))

high flows are a good 15$ each x 3 or 4 mags 60$ haah so i dont mind modding them, im still poor from ordering the mags/gun and tight bore:P

Are the posts a hollow air way?

That's a nozzle valve, not a magazine hiflow valve.

Doesn't work from my trying it. Hi-flow valves not only have a larger space for gas to flow through (stay open longer), they also have a longer valve shaft to let more gas out of the mag. Unless you have the two together, all you end up getting is the same amount of gas released, just make it's flow a slight bit less resisted.

You're looking to INCREASE the gasflow on NBB MK23 mags?!

I think the last time I chronied my MK23 NBB it was in the 360ish range.

nbb's are efficient enough to not require high flow valves. all the gas goes straight to propelling the BB and non is wasted in cycling the slide.

hah was it 360 stock? was that on propane.. I basically want it to be my portable sniper rifles so i can pick people off (outdoors) when i dont want to give my postion away.

I ordered the mk23 in the mail, and 3 y&P Mags so i can run propane... along with a pdi tight bore...

:) so yes high flow = more range :D

With hiflows, propane, and a tightbore you're probably looking at 400+.
Could be less but that's just my guess given my experience.

350 fps is the most you'd realistically need out of a pistol. Anything higher than that and you're going to get into "blow by" issues where you're going to have to use a .36 weight just to get decent accuracy past 80 feet.......and the TM MK23 already preforms well on propane, so why screw with something that already is proven to work reliably??
