Does anyone know the release date? Apparently ICS showcased it at the 2010 Shotshow.

well that would be bloody handy. I hate taking apart my ICS mp5. I dont mind the TM or knock offs but the ICS is a pain.

Is this the first time ics has put a split mechbox into the mp5?

yes and no

As far as I know, in the current version, you could slide the upper receiver of the MP5 to be able to open the mechbox.

I prefer the G&G design, no more of this clamshell business.

Apparently these come stock with a 3-round burst MOSFET chip.

Looking down into that lower, It looks almost PTWish, what with all the chips.

The stock on the A5 "springs out" like the RS.

And of course, the spring release system when put to Safe.

Now that is something that I want! Burst fire, sliding ejection port cover, spring out stock, split gearbox? Amazing!

Is that upper reciever one piece (including tube) with welding like the new SRC design too?

It's about damn time these companies got away from TM's archaic decades old designs.

World release, end of March as far as I know. Canadian release, as bloody fast as we can get them produced and approved for Canadian market. Maybe we'll get them to darken the tinted receiver just a little more. :D

The internal hop-up adjustment has me sold. I had my heart set on the CA B&T MP5, but I guess this takes the cake...assuming I can ever get one here, that is.

Once it's available down south, I assume retailers can import it?

I might have to buy an MP5...

The only question I'd have is how prone the electronics are to &$*#ing up. I mean, a motor and gear box is more or less mechanics, but when you toss in the electronics of the burst-mode and crap, I'd wonder about that. Mind you, I have no experience with any of that kind of stuff, so I might have unnecessary fears.

People have already been installing aftermarket MOSFET to control ROF, burst, etc. I am sure ICS can handle that.

I do hope that ICS doesn't have to use too many proprietary parts in order to accommodate for the MOSFET.

I guess we can always get replacement parts through Mach1

mach1airsoft will get it soon. Imagine an mp5 sd6 with 3 round burst, better looking than A5 hmmmm getting one for sure.

Will they do SDs?

ICS makes their standard MP5 in about 15 flavours.

I see no reason why they wouldn't make their new ones in all the varrients too.


New Update, When switched to safe, the spring tension is released, apparently.

I smell even more proprietary parts...

the MX5 metal upper reciever is different from the recent mp5 lines... are we getting the plastic version or the real metal version???

As far as I know, MX5 is the generic name for all ICS MP5s to avoid copyright issues while importing to the states.

Same reason why you see names like MK36, MK5 and GK3 on U.S. sites.

I had the MX5 with its split mechbox demoed to me by ICS at ShotShow, I know the feature's there.

one of the guys I played with regularly have two on order, they look quite interesting especially with the mosfet built into the AEG hopefully they get better than the previous ICS AEG

Our best estimate is we'll have them here before the summer. We'll have a specific shipment focused entirely on this model, as demand and inquiries for them has been ridiculous.

With the goodies this baby is armed with, I can guarantee it will have a slight premium compared to the standard full metal MP5 currently available.

With it being May and summer coming up pretty fast, is there any update on a possible ETA? I'm itching to get one of these! And I wonder if ICS are only going to release an MP5 A5 version at first, or a whole line up of new generation MP5s? A new generation ICS MP5 SD5 would be an immediate buy for me.

No, I've actually been checking the forum every single day in hopes of hearing an update.

Apparently this thing has a steel reciever as well....

If they release an A2 with hopefully models coming with flashlight handguards, I will buy it instantly.

Finally, an MP5 I may actually be able to use without breaking :)
