What's so good about SCAR's ?
What's so good about SCAR's ? I always wanted to ask this question. They are similar to Hk416 / M16 i find except have a buttstock which is foldable? Otherwise, why are they so expensive? M14 I can understand why its expensive (had a g&g veteran) but SCAR....? and plus, i really don't like the buttstock lol. It's like deformed or something. Is there a reason why its expensive? The ones i see on classified are about 450$+ but without anything .... can easily go up to 600-800$ ..?
Just curious guys, thanks! |

You mean why are they so good in real life or in airsoft?
In real life, they are a new kind of design http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_SCAR Otherwise in airsoft, they are new and less companies make then compared to M4/M16, which have been cloned by virtually ALL the airsoft brands. Usually More offers = lower prices. Then again, I'll let someone more experienced answer your question with more technical explanations... |
In airsoft.

Like I said in the other thread: Probably just the "new and cool" factor.
|
it's not cool at all, im serious lol. It's so huge and all ? its like holding a Doom 3 rifle, especially after you add a 552 scope and if it has a grenade launcher o___O
|
lol
We have a colloquial saying in Chinese that literally translates into "new toilet". It's used to ridicule something that is new and the people that are interested by it for that reason. It means that when something is new, even if it's a toilet, people will be attracted to it simply because it's new. |
The one's that are $600-$800 is the stock-upgraded GBBRs.
|
Because the SCAR resembles the BFG9000

It usually has to do with availability when they first hit the scene in Canada, and were made only by high grade companies like Star and VFC. Now the clones hit the market and the price went down.
|
But the price of clones is high close to the same price as non clone brands such as tm and ca new
|
hahaha aznpose ! i get what r u saying ! new toilet *sane si han*
|
I'd say it's more like the price on the "cheap" clones are ridiculously high. Not sure where anyone is seeing a price drop. A $150US DBoys M4 sells for $300-$350 in Canada. The $150US DBoys SCAR is being sold for $450+ in Canada. How this is a 'price drop', I don't know.
|
Because its the 1337 SOCOM new toy? People like new things....
I thought WE SCAR is actually cheaper than WE M4? |
I'm referring to AEGs only. GBBR have their own pricing category that's different from AEGs.
|
I meant a drop from the $800 +/- for a VFC or Star for the $350-$500 for DBoys, G&G, CA, etc...
|
When you can get a high end SCAR, it may have dropped a bit from the prices that were being asked when they were first released, but it's not a considerable decrease. Still, I'll agree that the price has dropped somewhat in the high end arena. It's the low end that's pretty expensive for what you get.
Personally, I don't give a shit how much money I have to play with. I'd utterly refuse to pay that much for a DBoys SCAR. I'd love to get one, but not at these prices. I'd pay the extra $250 and get a VFC instead. Hopefully the SCAR craze will die down somewhat and bring prices down with them. |

A MK16 is a bit nicer to hold an manipulate than a M4 It's also lighter when you go full metal vs. full metal. Downside is you can't change out as many parts like buttstocks and fore ends, but then maybe you don't need too. Downside in airsoft is the smaller batter compartment so if you want a monster battery it's a Lipo, and not quite as many internal upgrades if you're into that.
