Dedicated "Badie" airsofters?

I'm just curious if anyone here has a dedicated "bad guy" kit that is their primary. Where I play, its normally digital camo vs non digital camo. And as I don't see that I've earned the right to sport a Canadian uniform, I'm constantly being the bad guys. From the SS, insurgent, to a cod4 ultra nationalist.

Tell me what you got, and your feelings on there being a dedicated insurgent themed team. I feel that the bad guys are not represented enough. And that there is too much "nato fighting nato" with airsoft in Canada.

I do however understand that people put a kit together based on what they like, and I can see how doing a Taliban loadout wouldn't be very popular.

Sha Do February 23rd, 2009 20:44

Actually, there are a couple of players that are dedicated "badies" around. I'm not one of them, but a guy called Freedom Fighter (aka Little Alien) ran nothing but the typical "bad guys" AKs and a schemaug, with no camo kit (usually OD pants and a tee shirt). Over the years he accumulated several AKs....nothing else. I'll see if I can get him post a couple of pics of his massive collection of "badie" stuff (he's more than semi retired out of the sport).

hey boot, im pretty new to airsoft (havnt even played my first game yet) but I was thinking the same thing at first. Ive decided to just try and get both :D
Ive ordered a m4, OD CIRAS vest with CADPAT BDU(to list the basics) so far but I also plan on gettin an AK, shemagh, some sorta chest rig, not too sure what else at this point. I wanna be able to play both roles this summer. Anyone else do this?...or do you just stick with one or the other?

KNIVEZS February 24th, 2009 02:11

its not my primary but i use civi clothing, shemagh, and my aks74u
i dont use any chest rig.i keep my mags on my pants pocket

capca February 24th, 2009 10:25

Hi, I'm Capca from TAN Airsoft, a little taliban group in Spain. First of all thanks to JR to publicite our blog, we are friends here in Spain, good guy.

I just want to say that there are too "pro occidental" groups and no one wants to be the "badie", and that's what we want to do, be original (our clothes are directly sent from Pakistan, not buyed in Internet).
We have a different conception, you are not "badie" even if you wear like a taliban. Even more, there are much more badies in the occidental teams :P. Just joking, what we love is that when you are in the enemy sight is when you have to be smarter, and most of the times is more fun to be hated!

This is how we look like in the next 0'20 number(spanish magazine).

Thanks!

Yes. And this is something I'm having trouble understand. I always thought of airsoft as recreating battles and what not. That's why we have Milsim. I just thought there would be more willing to play as "bad guys". Especially as an insurgent since it costs next to nothing. I'm also thinking very stereo-typically. You know. the whole "gown and afghan cap" Or the "Addia's track jacket and shemagh"

The German stuff is a whole other story, since that can cost A LOT more than a more "basic" kit that's being done.

I really like the pictures that are taking during play. And they look even more better when there's an actual enemy.

Thanks for your guys input. I hope the bad guys catch on a little more and we can get to re-creating battles.

phantastik February 24th, 2009 16:43

i know my 2 buddies and me are fully planning on looking like bad guys

that being said, that also has to do with my fondness for the soviet army

FOX_111 February 24th, 2009 16:54

Our team usually do the bad guys, because of our team uniform. Plain OD.
But last summer, we did a Taliban vs ISAF and we upped the bad look.

Here is my Taliban elite guard look. (I was tasked with guarding the Mollah's base)
http://aqar.no-ip.org:8080/IMG_4290.jpg

And me again, with the RPG-7 and a taliban fighter.

That was a super fun milsim! I had the mother of all sunburn. It was so hot, I ditched the turban and stripped to the bare essencial.

He's gone but I have kept in touch with him over the years, hes a good friend of mine.

He's finding interest back in Airsoft slowly... and he'll probably be at BW3 or some other big game in the summertime.

I don't remember the name of the guy in the pic.

The RPG-7 is custom made by our team armorer.
He posted pictures in the media section I think.
It fire m203 shells.

Yeah. they took about a month to get me my stuff, and also didn't respond to e-mails asking if they'd have different sizes coming in future.

However, all of the stuff I got, is awesome.

Pretty cheap too for a more authentic loadout. $115 CA shipped to me.

My group and I actually play dedicated bad guys. Although we do not specifically go as some form of taliban or other such group. Instead we envisioned a sort of what if of a North American insurgent. Multicam or Green combat pants with modified cargo pockets to hold magazines, M4/M16, G36 style weapons, often just a t shirt or long sleeve for a top, maybe a jacket with a fishing vest underneath holding all sorts of goodies...but in general we play the plain clothes guys you dont want to run into

Do mercs count as baddies? Depending on which country you're from/in and according to the UN they are.

I just run with a pair of cadpat pants and a black long sleeve shirt. Roll up the sleeves, toss in a pair of gloves, appropriate rigging (currently dropleg holster and occasionally a cadpat LBV), shemagh, and cool-cool-esque ballistic glasses and I'm set. Hardware-wise, I'm sporting a FAMAS (a la Légion étrangère) and a beretta.

I like the idea of baddies being domestic. Perhaps there is room for a group of fundimentalist conservatives, with their own militia. Or people may recall the Oka standoff; we could dress like the First Nations warriors and militia, and we could carry our western rifles without looking out of place.

Speaking of weapons, I recall reading "Black Hawk Down" and there was mention that many of the militia they fought had fresh M16s, still coated in packing grease, so the AK does not need to be your only "baddie" blaster

I might do a Type 07 loadout pending a more modern looking rifle Type 56-2 or Type 97. I am switching over to the PLA look this year I started abit with the type 65 uniform and am loving it. Are we considered Dedicated Commie Opfor? I mean we didn't quite look eye to eye with the Soviets.

LegioXIII January 20th, 2011 12:41

I REALLY want to play bad guys for our Manitoba games. I hate terrorists but I wouldn't mind playing them. Someone has to, plus I've always been kind of a rebel at heart.

The kit should be easy since they're not really organized military forces and pretty much anything goes. The thing that makes it tough is to not be a "gear whore". Too tempting to wear neat and practical tactical stuff.

Well, if WW3 ever happens and PLA comes out on top, then they'd be the good guys, vice versa.

Frozen Tex, I have no idea how you manage not to overheat in that mask. The first pic is great, it really captures the badguy look. The second looks too much like a tanside good guy wearing a mask :P

Frozen Tex July 9th, 2011 13:51

By the time the second pic was taken, I'd added the plate carrier and helmet for A) Carrying extra mags for the RPK, and B) added head protection; I was gonna pretty much be playing a "juggernaut" role, and, as luck would have it, I took a Madbull M203 shell point-blank in the face, so I was glad for the extra coverage.
But yeah, the mask and "PACA" by themselves look much more "bad guy".

Mr. G36! July 18th, 2011 14:27

Too much "good-guy gear," but I still got stuff on the way to look less "good-guy impersonating bad-guy." Most of the tac-gear is from my "good-guy" load-out, and I only just started putting the "bad-guy" load-out together.

My sniping partner was Philkensebben... Often badass himself, no too mention pretty punk rock. ;)

still! that's one hell of a clash, the mp40/current gear (in a good way).

I like it!

Gulag August 8th, 2011 09:18

Pffft! Badasses don't use protective pads. That's why we bitch so much, it's always something. :D

Frozen Tex August 8th, 2011 11:33

Tell that to my elbow... :P (see the latest posted pics on "Great White North")

The kneepads are necessary there. Too much scrap metal and rusty nails.

Moar badness...

following post in reference to asc user Frozen Tex's pictures that he posted above.

would it be possible to fit shooting glasses under that?

first and last pic's are freakin sweet!

Conker September 19th, 2011 09:39

STOP QUOTING FUCKING PICTURES RIGHT BEFORE YOUR FUCKING POST.

Sorry, had to say it. Move along (and don't do it again).

Frozen Tex September 19th, 2011 11:32

A_Sock: yeah, if they're really low profile, with small lenses, they might fit. My Oakley M-Frames would be too big, for instance.

EDIT: You'd have super-bad fogging, whatever you tried to wear.

Dunno if it really counts as "bad" but I played umbrella forces in a recent Resident Evil Milsim.

Behind you..

I definatly agree with this observation. With out the proper enemy, were just fighting each other; hard to define whos whom.
I am new to the airsoft realm, but i do intend on figuring out an alternate kit and load out once i see what the actual game play is.
That and i preffer not to follow the heard.
I think it would bring a much more realistic feel as well as some fun.

i think that you are totally right but at the same time that doesn't mean you need to go out and buy a ak look alike or anything like that cause not all military insurgent groups or terrorists use ak-47s like my insurgent load out is a shemagh on my head with a skull mouth cover (use for insurgents or military groups) a very long black shirt and jeans with a vsr-10 sniper and ics m4 and everywhere i play pple say it looks good for being a terrorist or insurgent so my point is the clothes are what really make it not the weapond you use

Personally I like the old school terrorist look a lot more than the current middle-eastern insurgent look that everybody seems to prefer these days.

Give me a good IRA, Shining Path, ETA or Red Brigades member in a wool hood over a shemagh wearing one. it looks more bad ass to me.
