New pistol

hey guys, i'm looking at getting a new pistol. i've check alot of reviews and seen many vids on youtube, i just can't decide. i've never played airsoft or have ever seen a airsoft gun in person, so i figured you guys can help me choose. I do understand that choosing a gun is a personal thing, but like i said, i'm new to this, and i don't just wanna buy one that looks nice.

whatever gun i get, i'd like to have as much metal as possible, to have the real gun weight and feel.

i'm thinking of either getting the Berretta M9, Glock 19 or P226
what do you guys think? also if you think i should take a look at a different model, please let me know.
I also do understand that there are different makes for each model, I was thinking of going with either KJW,KSC, JG

thanks in advance, i look forward to getting into this hobby

You should get age verified first so you can see what is available.

Full metal doesn't always mean it's good. a KSC gun with an aftermarket metal kit will preform better than a full metal KJW gun.

Conscript November 3rd, 2008 20:14

Get age verified, there's ton's of pistols available on the classifieds!

domijr November 3rd, 2008 20:26

thanks for the quick reply's, and yes i'm gonna get verified as soon as possible, i msg'd someone from my city about that already, just waiting a reply. thanks for the advice about the ksc over an all metal pistol, i'll keep that in mind, so you think i should just go with the ksc glock 19??? i'm not shur what i should get, theres soooooo many to choose from. what would you buy if money wasn't an issue??
thanks again

Amos November 3rd, 2008 20:27

If money wasn't an issue I'd buy an Illusion Custom Hicapa :)

KSC G19's are a great choice, KSC glocks are very good platforms to upgrade from.

arman November 3rd, 2008 20:32

yea a illusion hicapa would be sweet but a regular hicapa is sexy also...just make sure its a TM

domijr November 3rd, 2008 20:42

i'll check those out now, thanks

You can't check Illusions Hi-capas..
They're in the Age Verified section, also they're custom built, and the parts are top of the line for performance, power, and accuracy. Very blinged out. ;)

If you're reffering to the price, then it's three to four. :o!!
He also does custom builds for you too.

In Canada, and he's a celebrity for molesting Hi-capas. Also making people empty their wallets to have a piece.

If that's what your after, buy an AEG first. Much more useful. Pistols are not necessary and can come later if you really want one.

domijr November 3rd, 2008 21:05

i'm gonna be purchasing both along with all the gear that i'll need, i'm just trying to gather info untill i'm verified. thanks for the reply
advice on AEG's are welcome too :)

Right in the FAQ's, please read. Choose a sensible weapon model for you, do research on it, watch/read reviews. If you don't like that brand, move onto your next choice.

I don't recall JG ever making pistols, unless they recently annouced it, which I doubt. From what I've heard, China-Made pistols are beginning to up their quailty, many of the China Hi-Capa's and 1911's are said to be good (even in a non-metal model).

i have looked at the FAQ and i did narrow down my search, i'm just seeing if i can get some info from peeps that are into this hobby already. if i lived in the states, i wouldn't mine just buying anything and trying them out, but since i'm in canada, i'm gonna be paying alot more then what there worth unless i go thru the obvious classifieds, but i kinda wanted to go thru a retailer once i'm verified so that i can get a one brand new. once i get into this and started owning and feeling the way these guns work, i'll probably start buying used, but for my first few, i wanna get new, so that i know it hasn't been beat up :)

Anthology November 3rd, 2008 21:32

Get verified at a game or scenario. Before or after you get verified you could talk to the other players there. They might let you handle some of their replica's which will give you the feel for some of the guns. This will also give you the chance to ask 1-to-1 questions about each weapon that you handle or are interested in.
You don't need to buy a gun and all your gear right off the bat after you get verified. Once you're verified you might be lucky enough for someone to offer you a loaner gun to get your feet wet. Then once you've gathered some info and had a little experience with some models, make a purchase.

From what I've heard, a vast majority of the replica's sold on the forum are in very good condition. Both externally and internally. Also, you should be able to trust the seller, incase you still need clarification, look at their trader rating.

kawasakizx636 November 3rd, 2008 21:38

i'm in the same boat as u lol

domijr November 3rd, 2008 21:45

domijr November 3rd, 2008 22:12

How does one get age verified if they don't live in Canada. Unfortunately I live in the U.S. :/

Is there any people that can do that here or am I screwed?

You don't need to be age verified.

You don't want to buy Canadian guns anyways.

ujiro November 3rd, 2008 23:33

you have no need to get AV'd... You have access to barrels of cheap guns that we only wish we had access to. Airsoft is 100% legal in most states in USA.

KND November 3rd, 2008 23:43

+ 1, I wish, I live in the state too then I don't need to pay almost 2000 $ for my PTW.

Why the hell do you want to buy guns that cost 2-2.5x as much as you can get right there in the US?!

*head explodes*

KND November 3rd, 2008 23:56

Oh my lord, please bear with me here, I'm a total noob. I didn't know that guns go for that much in Canada.... that's a bust. You guys are really dedicated then. :)

Sure we're lucky to be here in the states for Airsoft... >.>

Anyway, sorry guys, I'm just now learning the ropes. :((

No I promise, I most definitely live in the States, I'm just a noob as explained above.

domijr November 4th, 2008 06:59

hmmm, looks like my thread got hijacked lol, oh well, but ya, i'd rather be in your place then mine, you can get guns for almost half the price, also easier for you to get a gun.

back on subject, i still haven't decided on the pistol yet, but as of aeg's, i'm liking the ics m4, what you guys think?

Wilson November 4th, 2008 07:02

Where in the States are you? A couple of us here travel down there from time to time and we might be able to verify you for shits and gigs!
