Custom made MGS4 M4A1 Parts list

I've gotten quite a few requests to make a parts list to build a Metal Gear Solid 4 M4A1. So to shut everyone up, here it is.

What to achieve:
The sexy MGS4 look
Full Metal

Accurate
Overall a very good gun
CHEAP, less than $699 Total AFTER shipping

NOTE: I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE OUTCOME OF THE GUN. IT REQUIRES VERY MUCH SKILL TO BUILD FROM SCRATCH. BUILD AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Amos August 14th, 2008 00:55

receivers = bad, aka not allowed to import

Andres August 14th, 2008 01:00

That's pretty nifty. Have you made one yourself?

i made a custom M4 out of 80% dboys parts and its friggen awesome.

the newer version of their metal body has better fitment and no gap between the top and lower receiver. Also when used with their own reinforced mechbox, the fitment is superb. I couldnt ask for much more

friend is in the process of making one using this guide

Yeah people said there were gaps and such on the new dboys body..
Mine had no gaps and such.
I got mine from Huang, a new shipment from him, they fit perfect, slides in perfect. Laser engraved and all.

Amos August 14th, 2008 02:00

Have any of you seen one of these bodies break?

If you do you'll grow to understand my dis-taste for these things...

The metal on the inside kinda looks like an Aero bar... but... these bubbles don't make you happy... just angry...

ProbeJax August 14th, 2008 02:47

Nice. I did see an actual MGS4 Old Snake M4 being made by one of the clone companies.

Agreed.

I have a new DBOYS metal body on my MGS4: M4 Custom project and it's tighter than a __(insert something really tight here)__.

I'm just waiting on a motor and front sight, and mine is all done.

Woohoo!

Oh, and it should be said, that building from scratch is definitely the way to go. I tried using a JG (Echo1) M4 S-System as a base and had nothing but troubles. Ended up scrapping the idea and building from scratch.

I put a DBOYS complete mechbox in the gun to test the mechbox out. I'll see how well it works once the motor comes in. And whether or not it can stand up to the 11.1V 1200 3-cell LiPo.

One last thing - I used G&P Tan Pistol Grip and Stock. I was thinking about OD or Dark Earth, but logic struck. Snake found the gun in a desert mission - so it's likely not OD. Finding Dark Earth components that look exactly like stock M4 parts is pretty tough - so I went with Tan.

Strelok August 14th, 2008 09:48

The body is tight because of the selector disk. I had the same problem, but it was fixed when I swapped out the Dboys selector disk for my TM one. I'm still trying to get my m16 to work though :(

Really? I know CRW-Airsoft made one.

But they're a retailer doing exactly what we're doing here.

Another note:

The "ACM Free Float RAS" (http://www.rsov.com/index.php?target...roduct_id=2738), the exact one I used, my EOTech 552 Could not fit over the D-Ring, like snake has it here:

http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/6219/thergv0.jpg

The D-Ring is too large across (diameter), and will need to be dremmeled, or the EOTech will need to be dremmeled. Not something I'm willing to do just yet.

Also, I used a CA M15A2 outer barrel, so it doesn't have the notch in the barrel for the M203. The one Snake uses doesn't have this notch either, so I figured it was a good fit.

Those are just the little differences between mine and Skladfin's.

Skladfin August 14th, 2008 11:54

hmm the same RAS for me was pretty good, no fitment issues with the rail.

thought I'd say its a quality control problem.

now all we need is that skin-tight suit he wears! I just dont know if anyone's willing to game like that.

btw CRW airsoft uses RIS instead of RAS

808 August 14th, 2008 12:05

I know of a retaier who has the OctoCamo in beta production, as well as his Carbon Fiber CQC knife & Solid Eye

ProbeJax August 14th, 2008 12:10

Wouldn't mind that knife.

808 August 14th, 2008 12:11

I agree. My ass is too big for the OctoCamo though.

ProbeJax August 14th, 2008 12:13

What about an MK2? I've been trying to build a papercraft one...killing my fingers.

808 August 14th, 2008 12:15

Who knows - the way Sony is rolling these days - they may make a real one.

Skladfin August 14th, 2008 12:23

LOL does my butt look big in this suit?

808 August 14th, 2008 12:25

I'm trying to get a sample from him. If he sends it to me, I'll be forced to put it on and take a ridiculous photo or two.

Which of course would be posted all over the internet.

Skladfin August 14th, 2008 12:25

you'd be an instant celebrity!

808 August 14th, 2008 12:30

I'd have to make sure I'm as serious about it as these guys:

OctoCamo condom suit?

Drache August 14th, 2008 13:06

did anyone ever see that "trailer" that was made for a supposed MGS movie which was eventually turfed? Had "Snake" running around with an airsoft Armalite, a very large computer animated robot soft of thing, a fire fight, etc.

Nik12 August 14th, 2008 13:24

I'm no AR/M4/Armalite connoisseur, so call me ignorant, but what exactly is the difference between the MSG4 M4 and any other railed/accessoried/aftermarket M4? Ofcourse aside from the fact that Solid Snake makes it awesome?

jtjcheng August 14th, 2008 14:09

That's a freaking long list.

You're too crazy to be able to make this list, Skladin.

Now, you make me want to ask you to build one for me.

Shirley August 14th, 2008 14:09

Most of them can be purchased as is without modification, some only require painting, and others take a little more. I also didn't include the REALLY weird type weapons or non realistic types.

ProbeJax August 14th, 2008 14:17

There's no 1911 in MGS4. Only in MGS3. Looking foward to that suit, 808. ANy chance of getting the knife?

gmds44 August 14th, 2008 14:40

OMG!

Amazing!

I just wish someone could make this up for me, I'm kind of newbish dealing with gearboxes :P

1) Sig GSR - An 8-round M1911A1 clone made by SIG Sauer, it is the standard-issue sidearm of the PMCs and therefore can be acquired by relieving a PMC member of his primary weapon without killing him, then allowing him to switch to his GSR. It can be equipped with a handgun flashlight

2) Operator - An 7-round M1911A1 clone made by Springfield Armory, Inc., it is given to Old Snake by Otacon using the Metal Gear Mk. II, and can be equipped with a degradable (per shot) suppressor and/or a handgun flashlight.

3) M1911 Custom - This gun has the same modifications as the gun Eva gave Big Boss during Operation: Snake Eater. It has a threaded barrel, but uses a different silencer then the Operator, and also lacks an accessory rail. The 1911 custom also has more stopping power and greater range then the Operator and GSR.

4) Race Gun - The Race Gun is a semi-automatic .38 Super 1911 handgun modified for Competition shooting. Is able to fire ricochet bullets. There is very low recoil impulse and the race gun can be fired rapidly without a significant loss in accuracy. This gun is similar in concept to the SAA, although where the SAA has a few, but powerful rounds, the race gun has many weaker projectiles. Both are meant as weapons to have fun with.

5) Thor .45-70 - The Thor .45-70 is a single-shot hunting pistol firing the large .45-70 round. Its frame is based on the M1911A1 .45. It is Liquid Ocelot's weapon of choice.

COLT makes a similar Knife...
http://www.knifeworks.com/index.asp?...OD&ProdID=1689
you'd have to wrap the paracord it comes with around the grip....
I got one a few years ago and did that...

Wait, there's an actual 1911 in the game?

808 August 15th, 2008 11:54

Soon as I can get a sample, I'll post some pics. He didn't give me a time frame, so I don't know when.

Once the guy gives me the go-ahead to say who he is, I'll let you all know where to get it - don't worry.

Nik12 August 15th, 2008 14:16

I want a sneaking suit. I love skintight clothing showing off my manly curves.

I haven't played it yet, but I'll be severely disappointed if Liquid Ocelot isn't toting 3 SAAs.

Dao August 15th, 2008 14:37

Fantastic job Skladin.
Thanks a lot for the list, and I will sure make use of it pretty soon :)

Same with me..i could not fit eotech over the Dring. I've got every piece now i'm just waiting for my flashlight to get here . My team is using the philanthropy sign for our team patch. My MGS4 looks different though...played around with it..

No point in bumping an old thread when you could have just posted a thread asking how to make a Co2 M4.
