Post your guns' war wounds

I've read stories here and on other sites / forums of people who've had their guns and gear damaged in the field. I thought it might be a fun idea if people could post pics of damage received to their guns and / or accessories from being shot, dropped, fallen on, etc and the story of how the damage happened.

I personally haven't had anything happen, but I'm curious as to what other people have experienced.

Entire rear plate from the AUG mechbox broke out in loads of little pieces, never to be seen again, because the asshat I was gaming with decided to drop it repeatedly and deny it afterwards.

Other then that, I've never broken any of my weapons- badly.

Drache June 2nd, 2008 00:41

Ive got a picture somewhere on my computer of a friend who got shot with my VSR and the BB went through the back of his plate carrier fabric and halfway through the foam plate!

GUNS war wounds, as in a weapon being shot and chipped, or dropped and broken, I think is what this thread is about.
I could be wrong though.

Droped my Tm M4 into water on a field... You know when your heart hurts and your like : Zomg 500$ in the water, that can't be good. :-|

~Bodkin~ June 2nd, 2008 01:08

I broken the stock off of my AK twice. And somebody shot the stock and the BB passed through the thin wood.

Was it fine after though?

AEG's are know to work after they've been in water.

hahahhahah sorry man

Breakage in shipping! lol

Shame I don't have pics of my AK47 I rolled down an embankment with.

When I stopped, it was in 4 pieces.

JB weld and staples my friend!!

~Bodkin~ June 2nd, 2008 03:07

Damn right! The metal body I got for my AK had the attachment for adding an M4 stock instead of the normal tabs, so I manufactured a wooden plug that was snug enough to hold the stock and body together. I've beat the hell out of my AEG, she hasn't stopped working yet. Plus, scars on an AK are pretty much mandatory anyways.

Before the game even started, I had my AKM leaning against my leg. Turned a bit to talk to someone, and it falls onto the grass. No big deal right, solid as hell AKM.

Wrong.

Thats the second ICS bolt that I broke so far.

:(

wildcard June 2nd, 2008 10:19

not exactly a war wounds but here it goes

- broken TOP M60 carry handle, lifting it up from the box when it arrived new back in 96, there goes $1600 M60 with out a carry handle

- the same TOP M60 right hand side Bipod leg snapped when a collision with a tree occurred at wasaga beach, at that time a teammate was carrying it

- cracked CAR15 body when shot by poncho's accidental hot JAC
- cracked and broken systema 1st gen metal body, shot and fell down off a hill at wasaga beach
- chewed and scratched MP5 stock from a beaver at OPCT1

Endymion June 2nd, 2008 10:51

No pics yet, but my PTW has some surface rust already on the outer barrel and front sight, as well as plenty of scratches from moving through dense wooded areas. Some mags are showing a bit of orange tinge here and there too. EOTech has a crack running along the bottom right corner of the lens - no biggie, as you don't even notice it once you're focused on the sight picture.

What can I say, I use my equipment in all conditions and I don't really baby them while in use. Like my car, they're made to be used and abused under certain conditions and I try to maximize their potential. It's half the reason why I choose to use the gear that I do.

Schwag June 2nd, 2008 14:38

re-broke the plastic front end off my mp5k at humanity's hammer last weekend. Snagged it on a tree. More crazy glue.

Fly 9 June 2nd, 2008 15:17

TM M16. fell on it. not while gaming but at home...and I wasn't carrying it, it was on my bed. Talk about pissed off. Broke the upper receiver tabs.

Then I had this crazy dream that I was playing airsoft and my SIG 552 gas nozzle thing (above the barrel) broke off. I told my friend about it before going out gaming.
Next thing I know, after jumping off a log, strap breaks, SIG falls, gas nozzle thing breaks off.
I was genuinely freaked out at that point, and I was lucky that I told him the dream before the game, makes the story actually believable.

Other than those two, pock marks in my plastic m16 body from deet, that's where we learned not to spray around the guns.

The front end is anyway. It's going to have a nice glue scar.

Funny thing is that I almost never use this gun. Bought it, carried it around for a buncha games, lent it out once or twice but I've had maybe 3 kills with it. Yet it's my most problematic gun. Broken front end, dogshit stock battery, broken trigger return spring, crappy accuracy (I am replacing hopup and barrel)
But it's still way better than having to resort to a crappy little gbb. Nothing beats a sidearm with a ver 3 and a hicap.

Crunchmeister June 2nd, 2008 20:51

Good damage stories, although I was really hoping to see more pics of actual damage incurred... But keep 'em coming. It's actually quite interesting to hear...

Skladfin June 2nd, 2008 21:15

lol my RAS came off of my M4 at one of point at a game.

Other than that, plastic bodies can go to hell lol

pusangani June 2nd, 2008 21:17

metal front sight on my ak47 broke when it hit my bathroom sink, not exactly a war story but meh

this weekend at Humanity's Hammer, both mine and Ancorp's AK's broke down mysteriously, mine turned out to be a crossed wire and I had her back up and running IN THE RAIN..was very impressed to say the least :D

True. My G36c is now about 3% JB weld+ 3% epoxy (jb weld chips off some of my ABS parts) listed as ingredients lol.
Thank god chips and breaks are on non external showing parts. I guess I'm just rough with it. Example Yanked back the charging handle and it came apart. Broke the abs spacers both of them. Have to remember its not a real gun.

Anyhow I found long metal spacers for thin bolts and cut them to size and JB welded them. I used more jb weld than this pic shows to brace them.

i took my famas apart last weekend and while i went to the store, my nephew decided my carry handle needed some huge pieces carved out. rounded the edges with a dremel my rds wobbles a bit though.

kalnaren June 2nd, 2008 21:38

Nothing major for me, I baby my guns. My worst was taking the front grip off my G36 I dropped the gun and the front of the grip smashed into the bayonet lug, taking a small chunk off of it. My rearsight is also rusting pretty bad, had to pull it apart clean and oil it.

georgehutchison June 2nd, 2008 22:30

bad tornado

I dont know if this counts as war wounds, but here it is anyway. got to play with the new tornado gernades. I guess something broke on it when our teammate dropped it after he was hit. A few minutes later a fellow teammate and myself were very happy to have the opportunity to huck this bad boy at the enemy. he pulled the pin and bam blows up right in our face. I dont trust those tricksy things to much any more.

Yeah that was really weird. Only AK's in the squad, both go down within 5 mins. I still don't have mine up and running, but will in about 2-3 days.

That can happen if you don't reset the timer plug.

Lisa June 2nd, 2008 23:43

haven't hurt a gun. Overloaded a carry bag but that don't count

McKay June 3rd, 2008 00:16

On FNG day here my sight on my AK came off. We got lucky and found the bastard when we were packing up.

hotrodthug June 3rd, 2008 19:08

G&G M14 fell off of the sling when my brother was carrying it at the LZ, plastic stock broke clean in two, took me 3 months to source a new one, found one on Ebay, got it a month later, put it all together now the fucker doesnt work

incrediboy729 June 3rd, 2008 19:34

I shot my 2 or 3 year old kjw m9 on a hot summer day and the blowback chamber shot out the back of the plastic slide, almost hitting me in the face.

johnnyrico June 3rd, 2008 19:50

Bought a G3, and during shipping the stock broke into two pieces, where the plastic of the stock meets the metal part of it.

Some epoxy and bigger screws, and now I swear it is stonger than it was before, ( I think lol )

Tackled by a zombie at Zombies!!! 1, blew up a perfectly good VLTOR battery stock/ battery.

Had a Battery detonate in a CA CQB stock while shoulderd.

Buddy had a P90 Battery go boom while firing.

Pole-vaulted over a FMU M16/c7, only damage was to my sternum, AEG was fine.

Nervikaire June 3rd, 2008 20:39

Just one huge thing for me, in my first year of airsoft... It was a cold november day, I had my Cadpat M4 RIS in a game... Went for a run, slipped on a patch of ice. I tried to bring the gun on my lap while falling down but I didn't do it fast enough and the stock made contact with the ice... before my body.

Got back up, started firing at tangos and it's only then that I realized the weird sound my gun made, as well as the lack of shoulder contact with the gun... The Cadpat painted metal body snapped, the stock screw made pressure on the spring guide and the back of the reinforced V2 mechbox broke.

Didn't take pictures of the exterior damage, but here is the before: http://k53.pbase.com/o6/42/561142/1/...RISCadpat.jpeg and after: http://i.pbase.com/g3/42/561142/3/53...edbyspring.jpg

Styrak June 3rd, 2008 20:49

Holy crap. It's like it's guts are pouring out.

shadow_matter June 3rd, 2008 23:55

I was shooting full auto with the stock folded, and a jagged piece of metal from the mechbox flew back into my face (full face masks are awesome). I took these pics when I got back.

http://www.pbase.com/shadowmatter/inbox

I am now sold on reinforced gearboxes. The spring guide was cracked, and shredded 4 piston teeth on the Systema gears. The gears were fine, the stock TM piston was a write off needless to say.

Cheers.

lord_sid June 11th, 2008 04:06

During a '04 winter game at FR, I slipped and felt. Unfortunately my aug landed on a rock. The rock didn't damage the body. However, the weight of the phantom kit and reciever torqued the body enough to crack the body the reciever. There is a nice 5-6 cm crack through the body.

Photobucket Slideshow

At the '07 May 2-4 Wolfpack game, I broke 2 aug fore grips.

Hit the door by accident and JG metal breaks.

Arecibo June 25th, 2008 03:44

I guess this doesn't count as damage because it wasn't my gear, but playing a game at Xtreme Tactics with some friends the other week, I used their guns and gear as I don't like to subject my stuff to the game of bumper cars the hyperactive first-timers tend to play.

Anyway, I'm aiming my G36C at a target about forty feet downrange when from five feet away, someone sticks their M15A4 around the corner and blind-fires. Put a couple BBs right through the objective lens of my red dot when I was looking down it, and cracked the eyepiece.. Made me pucker up a little bit.

Seeing as we're talking about damaged guns; my dad was picking up my BRAND NEW CA36 (Had it in the trunk...) and some jackass decides to run a red light and rear ends my dad's car!

I'd post pictures, but there's nothing left of the trunk. :(
So now I'm stuck with a custom G36 mechbox and no gun to put it in!

Insurance cover anything? I'm not familiar with the rules on insurance about items actually IN your car.

i'm fairly sure insurance would cover most items in your car... not too sure if the fact that it's a 'restricted item' makes any difference.

LUTNIT July 3rd, 2008 02:11

Team mates gun I was working on after an indoor game, 350fps limit, stock TM gun.:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...t/DSC_0096.jpg

Not really a war wound, just a stripped piston, but its a result of highspeed gears, a systema turbo motor, and a large 9.6V battery:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...nit/piston.jpg
A 300fps spring is not strong enough to return the piston fast enough before the gears try to grab the piston again.

GundamGPO3 July 3rd, 2008 21:09

Wow that is really weird to see. I mean they didn't even strip down evenly, it is just a huge notch ripped out of a few teeth lol...

They're only covering part of it... and by part of it I mean $100 because apparently $650 is too much for a toy gun.
