AUG Phantom Paint job
Hi,
Just wanna post some pics of my Aug's paint job. It was my first paint job ever and I'm not disappointed of the results. Maybe a bit too much of sand colour. If it could help someone I will be glad to awnser your question about my process. The idea was 5% Sand colour (maybe it's not far to 10% in this case) 45% Green 45% Brown 5% Black All krylon paint used and a crystal clear finish paint. http://i13.servimg.com/u/f13/11/01/88/60/augpai10.jpg Tell me what you think about it and submit me your questions if you have some. Thanks |
OHHH nice P-J man,
i've always liked camo bullpups for some reason...... |
Looks sharp.
|
Nice.
|
nice job
maybe a little more dark green |
Not too much sand at all man. Helps break up the outline.
|
very nice, very crisp lines, too many people just paint and have hazy edges the look bad, which doesnt look like camo. Im very impressed? You use stencil?
|
Nice job looks good.

No I don't really use stencils. Let say how I've been doing this. #1- I prepare the surface with a krylon primer (be sure to disassemble everything you want not to be paint and mask with masking tape the other ones you're not sure on how to replace or impossible to remove) let it dry at least an hour. http://i13.servimg.com/u/f13/11/01/88/60/disman10.jpg #2 - Paint the basic color everywhere in a small layer (sand for me) and let it dry at least 1 hour. Do not put too much paint cause it will cause drips and will take longer to dry. Repeat this operation till the finish is even everywhere. http://i13.servimg.com/u/f13/11/01/88/60/gladag10.jpg #3- Mask with Masking Tape the parts that you dont' want to paint over. Process are putting masking tape in choosen places on your gun, draw the shape and cut with a knife (xacto) lightly and the remove what you don't need. Do not remove the tapes yet!!!! http://i13.servimg.com/u/f13/11/01/88/60/taped10.jpg #4 - Spray another color on the entire gun (brown for me). I've managed to have some spots lighter than than the other by applying 1 layer. Let it dry. http://i13.servimg.com/u/f13/11/01/88/60/brown10.jpg #5 -Masking tape the brown sections you dont want to paint over. Draw some shapes that will link the sand taped areas (hard to see sometimes). #6 -Spray paint (green) on the entire gun. Let it dry. I've applied 2 layers #7- Remove all tapes except on the part that you don't wan't to paint at all. http://i13.servimg.com/u/f13/11/01/88/60/greena10.jpg #8- On small paper sheets, draw some small shapes for the black color (many). Be sure to let sufficient blank space to cover your paint job.Try to figure out how to dipose them. Use scotch tape if you have hard time to keep them in place. You will use them as a stencil. When youre ready, spray 1 layer over your stencils. Let it dry. #9- Spray an incolored finish ( I've used krylon Crystal clear) cause the paint will remain very easy to scratch if you don't. Spray only 1 thin layer cause if you put more it will become very shiny. If you have mate uncoloured finish available, I would suggest you to use these. #10- Remove all the remaining tapes and reassemble your gun. Errors that I've made during the process. -Putting to much paint so it drips a little. -Cutting too much with my knife. (makes like deep tiny scratches but hard to see anyway) - Manipulate objects that I think it was dry and letting fingerprints (oops) |
