Well, I was keeping the general project under wraps while I was working on it incase it ended up scraped like my C7A2.
So here it is: It started off with a TM M4 RIS. External Upgrades: Gaurder C8 Metal Body TM Rear Flip up sight G&P Aimpoint - dust covers missing Gaurder Tri-Ad ICS AN/PEQ w/ Laser Gaurder 20 mm under rail for TM M4 handgaurds STAR Crane Stock w/ 3300 mAH NiMH Battery Internal: Promethous M120 Non Linear Spring Metal Bushings Promethous 6.03 tightbore Now for the Pictures: http://www.pbase.com/chef40/c8_sfw&page=all |
I love it! But the one thing I don't like about it is the thermold mag! They suck airsoft and real steel. But I'm assuming its just for looks for the picture.
><! In one of those pictures, it seems like you have a really bad case of rust on the fire selector switch.
Looks awesome, but yeah lose the thermold mag, standard STANAG M16 mag is gtg.
it was just lighting on the selctor switch. I am not sure why it came out that way.
Yea the thermold is just for pictures. Its a hicap that I rarely use on the field unless i am really stuck or to lazy to reload my other star and mid caps. Its a really cheap one that I had to paint black because it was see through. |
nice, but why didnt you leave the RIS on it?
To my knoweldge Canada doesnt use a RIS system all the much, thus in my efforts to make it as close as possible to a real C8 using the gaurder rail system on the bottom made more sense. Also with that rail, I am still cappable of putting on a M203 or whatever else.
The placement of the PEQ on the Tri-ad was another reason to get rid of the RIS. I prefer the look of straight handgaurds over the RIS. With the combination of the Tri-Ad and the bottom rail, I can accomplish just what I need/want. I hope that makes some kinda sense, even if its a bit jumbled. |
Get an eotech, to make a JTF-2 one....no one knows what JTF2 uses, they're budget is like OMGZORS. I'd assume they can afford an RIS system.
I thought about the EOtech, but too damn expensive. For teh same job a aimpoint can do for a quatre of the cost, is okay for me.
However like Bawbag would say "Those EOthechs are super sexy looking" |
The thermold mag isn't right since we don't use those anymore in the CF... We use the regular old STANAG's.

eotech or acog.
pretty similiar to sets ups I've played with when I was around them last year. Greg |

It came with an L mount, but I didnt like the look of it. I belive its on one of the pictures. With the L mount it didn't allow any room for my flip up sight. Quote:
I just dislike the acog in general because it gave me tunnel vision so horribly bad. sure it's got a pretty decent sight picture for a distance, but tunnel vision can get you killed ya know?
understand the eotech dealio, the heck else were they using?!? I can't remember. they had them mounted right on the ris if I remember correctly. Greg |
Any input you have would be helpful yeoman. I have had you on my MSN list for some time, right now my name is Greg - Chef send me a message.
Jackals, did you have any problems with the C8 body? I had heard a few people had trouble fitting it to the TM internals.
Any help would be apprecieated, as I'm hoping to do someting similar in the near future. |
I believe that's the Gen 1 and not Gen 2
Ya it's the Gen 1.
I have 2 gen 1 gaurder C8 bodies and they are a bit of a tight fit
3 thing I noticed on mine were you need to pry a bit on the back or the upper reciver when sliding the mechbox in. You need to file the inside of the selector switch side of the lower revicer becaue sometimes it's too tight to allow the selector plate free movement. You need to file out the magwell just a bit becasue mags will either be too tight or not go in at all. Non of the work was too serious and you gotta love the results http://www.windsorairsoftclub.com/e1...9;s_CQB_C8.JPG |
Trufet named it all right on. I havent filed down my mag well though. I prefer the tight fit.
mine were so tight I couldn't get mags in but my buddies was almsot perfect right off the bat so you never know.
mine is really tight, but i like it tight, cant fall out while i am running like my old TM one did.

Small update here on the project. Did some painting today and here is some more results
Other changes include the addition of my Tactical Yellow Flashlight for all your night blindness purposes :P I am looking into a Crane Stock to hold the battery to get a larger battery capacity. I have the rest of the internals on order and should be arrive in a couple weeks. My pbase has been updated with more pictures. http://www.pbase.com/chef40/c8_sfw&page=all - Jackals. |

yea its the temp flashlight till i get a chance to paint it black .......... I feel a song coming on here
Curious. Why is the reciever in the first picture colt?? i can see the logo.. and if it aint colt, i know for sure its atleast not the maple leaf like in the rest.
because that was before he got the metal body.
Its the gradual process of turning it from stock TM M4 to Colt Canada C8 SFW.
ok.. i was thinking it wa just supposed to be pics of the finished products..
Helo!
