BennyBoy February 18th, 2013 10:23

will still be required to wear eye protection underneath

Spike February 18th, 2013 10:26

Are your eyes only worth $11?

yan101 February 18th, 2013 10:30

I was thinking of safety glasses underneath.
It was more a alternative to mesh protection for the reste of the face

SuperHog February 18th, 2013 10:44

Spike, it baffles me that players don't value their eye sights. Senior players come here to help them, and they still go off playing without proper eye wear still. I would think it would be common sense that these questions don't get asked.

In paintball ball, it is mandatory, but airsoft, fields don't make it mandatory or enforce proper eye wear. Also in paintball, air tanks are checked for hydro dates, but betcha , if a out of date tank was used in airsoft (polarstar), it would not be checked.

The reason I ask it is available at a store that sell airsoft gear. I obviously am a beginner and trying to make a start-up kit. Before getting stuff that seem ''good bargain'' I try to get opinion from more experience player.
I worked in a optique lab for 4 years and I'm married to a opticien, so know about eyecare. It was not a replacement for gogles, but for the reste of the face
I have'nt play any game yet and there is no ''standart equipment'' I am trying to see what option are available.

BennyBoy February 18th, 2013 11:46

Take it easy guys, I'm sure the main purpose wasn't eye protection. It does however seem like it would interfere with you trying to sight your gun and fog up really badly.
I wouldn't feel safe with those without proper full seal goggle/glasses underneath.

Spike February 18th, 2013 12:04

If you wore those with glasses underneath, it seems like it would be a fogging nightmare... 2 panes of plastic/glass + the helmet and visor would keep all the heat and moisture trapped in there.

Off_kilter February 18th, 2013 12:07

i dont find it that bad...

yan101 February 18th, 2013 12:13

so for a similar price, something like that would be better?

BennyBoy February 18th, 2013 12:33

are you after a look or just something for full face protection?

yan101 February 18th, 2013 12:36

I would like full face protection and be able to wear my glases underneath (no money yet for tactical goggles and can't wear contact lens)

yan101 February 18th, 2013 12:55

what about something like this?
http://airsoftdepot.ca/catalog/produ...oducts_id=1580

BennyBoy February 18th, 2013 13:02

you need certified eye protection man, this junk is gonna get you blinded
normal glasses won't help you if it penetrates

Danke February 18th, 2013 13:04

That's a novelty item too.

Put your location in your profile. Local players can chime in with the 411 on local fields.

SuperHog February 18th, 2013 13:05

If you play indoor or like in your face action, then approved paintball masks are a must. Gives you the best face protection so stray bbs don't hit your face.

If you engage longer distances or outdoor play, I prefer full seal eye wear like revision with a fan, a mesh face guard and my fast helmet.

yan101 February 18th, 2013 13:15

so I should try to get something like that, and make sure they fit over my glasses
http://www.milsig.ca/paintball-masks...an-black-p-799

or a paintball mask

If your looking for full face coverage and you need to have glasses under it. A paint ball mask with a fan is a must. Fog will get you killed.

Something like this

There.

Hectic February 18th, 2013 19:23

prety much any tactical goggles like ess or paintball like jt will fit with your glasses underneath, you will want some fogtech to coat your glasses inside and out and the inside of the goggles, fans help some like em i dont use em really the noise is annoying to me.
then you can use a mesh face protector so you can still use the sigths on your gun
http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...x&cPath=74_140

Hectic February 18th, 2013 19:29

NO not those TM goggles sure they seem nice but no field will let you
use those they are not paintball rated nor are they balistic rated.

Cheapest option is go to canadian tire or walmart and buy a $30 paintball mask
then go to armyissue and buy a fans kit

best option is go to a tactical store and buy ess turbo fan
http://www.esseyepro.com/TurboFan-Se..._category.html
and the face protector i linked in my first post
if you buy paintball mast you can always trim away the side you aim with or just remove the goggles and buy the face protector

redzaku February 18th, 2013 19:36

honestly in my opinion, i rather buy a surplus riot police helmet instead an 11 dollars crappy plastic, but its your eyes

SuperHog February 18th, 2013 19:44

I wear glasses and for indoor games, I run a Proto mask with a fan.

http://www.badlandspaintball.com/Pro...amo_p_305.html

Or if you are on a budget, this is the similar

http://www.badlandspaintball.com/Pro...ck_p_1545.html

Aj619 February 18th, 2013 19:57

As said before a paintball mask will be your best bet

Personally I love the V-Force Profilers but what I suggest is you go to your local pro shop and try on different masks to see what fit's you best

^ those are really amazing goggles. but its not a helmet with a visor.

yan101 February 19th, 2013 13:30

ok for paintball mask, is this one strong enought?
The guys at the counter told me that's what a lot of airsoft player use.
the price is not too bad and I am not using the full mask, just the goggles (with a nice fan on top)

lurkingknight February 19th, 2013 13:37

the oriignal tiger link doesn't state the safety rating on the visor itself, only for the helmet. I would be looking for a visor that offered at least ansi 87.1 if you're talking about a clear visor. The face shield won't protect your face if a shot can penetrate it.

All paintball masks are created the same they have to by law so yes those goggles will stop an airsoft BB

Also at that price I'd go and find a pair of JT proflexs as the bottom of them can be rolled up so you can shoulder and look down a weapon properly and still give adequate protection and if you ever get tired of the bottoms you can pull out the goggles and it will be the same as those above

There's a reason that the JT proflexs have been used for years by tourny players and recreational player alike

It's a JT spectra, so yes, the goggles are rated high enough for airsoft play, and a lot of players run spectras. =)
