I got the Classic Army M15A4. But it was broken, and it seems I have to pay the $50 shipping again to get a new rifle. Great deal...

ccyg8774 October 22nd, 2012 05:39

I got a replica Eotech on a earlier Mystery Box.

You give some people enough rope...This kid (the OP not LurkingKnight) clearly works at circumventing the rules here, maybe not the letter of the law but clearly the intent.

Drake October 22nd, 2012 17:17

I'm actually quite curious how a 14 y.o managed to buy something from Toronto Airsoft.

FirestormX October 22nd, 2012 17:24

prepaid visa?

Or you can always lie to paypal and make an account.

Drake October 22nd, 2012 17:38

Yeah, I know. It's still highly disappointing seeing minors (specially this young) getting guns from what's supposed to be one of our flagship retailers.

there isn't really much in terms of verification for online sales. if mommy or daddy order it or give JerryMcGoulBerry their credit card, it's hard to prevent it from happening.

OP never said he "ordered" it, just that his gun arrived

Danke October 22nd, 2012 18:23

Sounds like this needs to move to the restricted section.

I'm sorry you feel this way. If it makes it any better, i do work a part time job and i pay for this hobby 100%
And basically i get my parents to order it, i give them the cash, and they sign it at the door.
I'm also responsible with my guns. I would NEVER take them out in public, or do anything with them except use them at airsoft fields. I'm trying to represent my age groups so we don't get looked on so poorly, and I can see why you guys do.

RaisinBran October 22nd, 2012 19:11

TA is a business, most businesses want money, plain and simple.

Who has the most money to spend? 14 year olds that work 10 hours a week.

JerryMcGoulBerry October 22nd, 2012 19:12

Sorry for the double post, dont know how that happened.

There's a little button titled "edit". Don't need to post a new post to apologize for a double post, just edit the duplicate.

So back on track.. Any other winners? Im curious how the odds are shaping up :)

RaisinBran October 22nd, 2012 19:41

I would have ordered one but I just don't want to get a cansoft gun..

It's not uncommon at all to see a parent accompanied by a kid(s) equal to or less than the OP's age at Toronto Airsoft buying guns. There was a thread a few months back regarding this very issue. I no longer spend my money there.

Im with you Kozzie

I personally feel airsoft stores should use the same policy the LCBO uses. If it looks like the customer may be buying this product for a minor, denial of service.

.....That's basically like saying gun store wants money and will sell to anyone.

I was unaware that Toronto Airsoft is a monopoly :p lol
But I do agree with that. Minors should not be able to obtain them(don't mind my lack of age verification, I am doing that tomorrow).

Anyways, I was thinking of getting a mystery box, but I am not a big fan of AK's, so I decided to avoid it.
There are a few video's on youtube of people's result, so far I have seen 2 VA VK47's, and 1 Cybergun AK.

Stop blaming the retailers. Blame the parents!

Stop complaining and go educate!

I totally agree with you in principle, but if you overheard some of the conversations I've overheard....

But enough thread jacking I'm actually curious what people are getting in their mystery boxes, do tell guys.

Carlito564 October 23rd, 2012 14:01

I got the G&G G96 in an older one. I was sooo pumped.

I for one commend you for atleast speaking like an adult and defending yourself with an intelligent answer unlike most 14 year old s#*t rats I see out there. Don't feel bad if you are 14 they'll stop picking on your age in 4 years or so. On the subject of retailers selling to minors, if they know its a kid with no supervsion then they are completely irresponsible. However its not gonna make much difference, I was in Toronto Airsoft and watched a Kid maybe 12 trying to return a broken cansoft m16 to put the money/credit towards a pistol. His mother was standing behind him nodding to the retailer telling him the kid can have whatever he wants. She only looked up from her cell phone long enough to ask what the price difference was. The retailer was trying to steer the kid hard from a pistol explaining the amount of maintenance it requires but the kid was stuck on it and mommy wanted to keep little "Jimmy" happy. Due diligence from the retailer can be completely disregarded and circumvented without a credit card just as easy by the quote unquote adult supervision.

All that said. I prefer playing against 18+ players. Atleast when they do dumb shit I can pimp slap em. "What the 5 fingers say to the face? SLAP!"

sabinn November 6th, 2012 14:55

I got my 1st gun at age 12 and didn't terrorize the neighborhood with it. Not saying it was right to give me one, but the world did continue to turn as I shot targets in the woods.

Kids will always have access. Always. This little guy seem articulate enough to express responsibility.

/FlameShieldOn

pestobanana November 7th, 2012 01:16

Guys can we stop hating on kiddies before they prove themselves to be stupid? Sure a lot of them are, I was one of them, but there are a lot of guys over 18 just as dumb...

And for those of you that say not to blame the retailer, TheWarStore in the States refuses to sell to someone of they know the person will try to sneak it across the border illegally. TA won't sell to a kid by himself but if mommy is there too then it's okay. I see it every time I'm there.

CR0M November 7th, 2012 01:36

if the parent is there or gives up a credit card knowing its for the purchase of airsoft guns I have no problem with it. As responsibility shifts to the parent.

If I go to the Liquor store and buy booze for kids thats my fault not the stores.

from reading other posts from this OP I don't think hes a knucklehead.

ARC-74 November 7th, 2012 07:29

............ back on topic, awhile ago I got a Classic Army UMC.
Nifty little thing, but wasn't for me and has since been traded.

AngelusNex November 7th, 2012 08:19

I as about to get in on that round of mystery boxes but the amount of cansoft was far too much. I didn't want to end up stuck with a half clear gun that would cost me allot of money before I'd want to use it.

14yr old getting airsoft guns

I'm new to this forum and new to airsoft in general even though I own several airsoft guns. I read the debate over this young man getting airsoft guns and had to chime in. I understand that 18 is the age to buy these weapons but young people get them through their parents. In Ontario boys and girls at the age of 12 can take a hunter safety course and get their apprenticeship card which allows them to legally handle and hunt with real steel firearms provided they are under the direct supervision of a person who is fully licensed. This being said I believe that if this young man's parents feel he is responsible enough to buy the weapons for him then who are we to judge. If people want to see change then maybe the airsoft world can get together and lobby for a safety and apprenticeship program modeled after the real steel version. This may put people a little more at ease with our growing sport but then again there are those amongst us that believe people who like airsoft, hunting or any so called violent sport shouldnt be allowed to do it, just my two cents worth.

WinnipegDragon January 3rd, 2015 01:00

Don't you mean 16 year old? Because this post is two years old.

Jo_Canadian January 3rd, 2015 02:15

Holy necropost Batman!!

whisp January 3rd, 2015 08:50

Still though this post is interesting.

You can join cadets at 12.

I know back In the day my first year I was firing FN C1A1 7.62 and by age 16 I was firing C7 5.56 and got to play with other goodies.

For about the 900 millionth time there are options for "kids" to play airsoft. From games where they're supervised by a parent via buddy system style play to entire leagues that are all kids.

The reality is that kids are not responsible (18 isn't much better to be honest but that's the law of the land). In game they're annoying and unsupervised they're playing in a park and the police arrive leading to a news story and the Canadian Assoc of Police Chiefs calling for a blanket ban or they're just shot dead and all the mothers are wringing their hands.

The current self regulating system works very well. And the only thing under aged players need to do is wait. Airsoft won't be gone in a month and they won't have missed out; it's not a fad.

MultipleParadox January 3rd, 2015 13:34

Not only is this a crazy necro but it certainly is completely unrelated to the topic... I guess this speaks for itself..

phantaxtic January 3rd, 2015 16:30

Wow. The OP asked what people got in their mystery box. Not only has this thread been necro'd but it's also way off topic.

I have never bought into a mystery box. Not a fan of being surprised with random airsoft toys. I prefer to know exactly what I'm paying for
