Looking for a review of the JK Army M04 Gas Mask
http://www.jkarmy.com/eng/magento/m0...-w-fan-bk.html
also http://www.airsoftpark.com/product_i...ducts_id=10059 Im wondering if anyone out there has bought themselves or knows a player who has used this mask. It would be great for an SAS or other themed loadout, but Im looking for input from you guys first. Im curious as to how well it performs and if the anti-fogging system works well. Also if you dont know this one, but know alternatives that are similar fell free to post a link too. THANKS! |
Just ordered one on the weekend from Airsoftpark, I'll post the nitty gritty after I've put it through it's paces

me too, I really want one, but if that fan doesnt work well its fog city for that thing... especially wearing eye-pro underneath ... too bad the glass isnt ansi cert
|
This has peeked my interest. I currently use a moddified M40 gasmask with Ballistic lences. Works great and the lences are rated or a shotgun blast at close range. My eyes will be safe if that ever happens. looking forward to yor review on it.

scratch that, I just watched 3 videos on these masks where they shoot point blank at the eyes, they bounce off... the description says "explosion-proof lens" , looks ok. But most fields dont allow anything but ansi, and theres always that seeping thought in the back of my head that i could lose my vision
|
I hear it's hard plastic and not particularly pleasant to wear.
|
I'm only posting to subscribe to this thread. I want one, as well.
On the site, it does list the body material as plastic, but whether that's hard or malleable remains to be seen. It also states that 'BBs will bounce off' the lenses and that they are 'explosion-proof'. Also awaiting info on that. If these prove to be skirmishable, I'll be ditching my Flakjaks for specific loadouts. |
I picked up one for if only to use as a movie prop/costume piece. Also seems perfect for the local zombie game coming up in the fall.
|
Mine came in. It's not too shabby. The fan is pretty much one of those CPU fans and fairly quiet. The hard plastic edges don't rub up against my skin at all, so there's no discomfort.
Biggest complaint is that it's seem to be built for an Asian nose, so wearing it the mask rides up on my face, just under eye level. No really enough to obscure vision, but enough to be slightly disconcerting and to expose the very bottom of my chin. There's a plastic seal I might be able to slice to fit my nose better, but I'm not sure how comfortable that would be in the end. |
You got pics and if possible shooting test results?

Ehobby has a video on this mask and they shoot it
Big Dragon M04 Dummy Gas Mask w Ventilatiing Fan - YouTube |
Here's my vid:
Airsoft Fire test: M04 Gas Mask Unfortunately the lenses were not resistant to sustained semiauto fire. |
The lenses doesn't seem to be broken it might just not be held tight enough.

That would only leave private field operations. |
After seeing that video of the lense popping out after a few hits, I don't think these will be allowed at my field (its a private field).

Side note: I can wear my Oakley Jawbone glasses - the ones I usually game with - under this mask. |

but even if i did that, the nose piece is just so uncomfortable...feels like it'll break my nose after more than 15mins of wear time personally, i feel that this mask has a lot of potential, unfortunately in my opinion, this needs a lot more work before it should be on the market. for now, i'll keep mine for halloween and cosplay events only. wallhanger for the rest of the year. |
Props to AirsoftPark, they actually posted a note on the item page after feedback:

A guy on our team got one then ran some JB weld along the egde of each lense, once it hardened it withstood a shot from a L96 shooting 450fps with a .2 from 2 inches. It did leave a small dent in the lense, but the lense stayed in place.

Save a little and buy real gas mask with ANSI rated glass, like MSA Advantage 3200.

just looked at some of the Advantage 3200 stuff, didn't see any ANSI rating info. Mostly just stuff like "Don't use this if there is a threat that is immediately a danger to your health, like VX nerve gas", nothing about eye pro. Presumably because there was more of a focus on the respiration stuff, rather than face/eye pro.
Good price, though, so I'd be curious to see for sure the ratings. |
