kwa mp9 opinions
ok i was wondering how everyone feels about the kwa mp9 im looking into it and it seems to be an awesome gun except for when looking for mags...So i guess my question is how is the gun and what is mag availability like, cross compatibility? can i use ksc mags with the kwa?
|
I just ordered one, and I've heard many good things about them. Mags are really hard to find unless you want to go through some very expensive US retailers or ebay. I ordered some through the KWA Pro Shop and they haven't told me they're out of stock yet, so that should work (aside from the very high shipping costs).
You can use KSC mags as long as they are System 7/NS2; some are and some aren't so watch out for that. |
Great GBB guns. If you are using the stock and aiming down the sights then you will get a little puff of gas in the eye each shot. Personally I find it annoying. If you use propane the stink is right in your face.
|
They are loud and have a very nice rate of fire. There is a guide on here somewhere about some modifications you should do to it right out of the box. One of those steps is to reduce the gas puffs coming out of the charging handle. Others are about sanding down the sharp edge of the bolt catch, and stretching one of the springs that may be too strong from the factory.
Aside from mags, the most common problem was the nozzle breaking (a common problem with KWA guns) and the nozzle return springs getting mashed up. Regular lubing will prolong your nozzle but it may ultimately give way. There are various replacement nozzles available, including an all metal one. Its a good idea to keep some as spares, along with the nozzle return springs. |
Where can I find the all metal nozzles?
|
cool good to know i just dont wanna go and sell a bunch of guns and gear for a gun that will ultimately disappoint me. I'm getting more into the ggb aspect and taking your time taking the shot kinda like my shotgun :P but i was also stuck trying to decide going cqb or outdoors with this. it would be a bitch to have to take it apart everytime and i imagine its not fantastic for the gun
|
Metal nozzle is here:
http://www.wiitech.com.hk/eshop/prod...roducts_id=369 Its a solid gun as long as you regularly maintain it. I haven't had any issues other than a spring that I had to stretch out because its too strong. I believe theres a CQB bolt available that drops in with a moderate amount of disassembling. The actual takedown is more tedious than the KWA MP7 in comparison. |
oh where is this cqb bolt available?
|
|
convenient... that is definitly a worthy purchase for convenience sake. but since its been a couple years i was thinking maybe they fixed all these issues :/ guess not
|
These issues are common baggage for a lot of KWAs. If you think this is bad, look up reports on their M93R
|
see this as a gun that will last the years? given care is given every game

Edit: oooooohh I missed the "HK" there... whoo! 33.51 for the current rate, makes much more sense now..! Move along, nothing to see here! :P |
It's a good fun gun to bust out the odd scrim for shits and giggles but I will never run it as a primary.

I've only gamed it once so far. I'll report on it once I get out more :( |
I gamed mine once too.
But bought is broken. Replacement parts aside the nozzle are HARD to find. I got it with 7 mags, so I don't know about availability issues. KSC and KWA mags (new ones, the TMP mags don't work) are compatible. It is basically the same gun, one has trades. I bought the low power bolt because it was easier to just buy the whole thing than trace the blow back unit alone. The difference is only the floating valve in it. Stock is rocket-shaped, low power is a cylinder. It takes 30 seconds and a flat screw driver to swap the bolts, really easy. Gaz in the eye is still an issue, I will do the route mod (you fill the gap at the rear and make a second escape path for the gaz) and maybe install a cheek rest since I use it with a RDS. |
k well im going to be taking care of all those things people have previously mentioned see what happens always pull the bolt back for the mag etc
|
I had one. It's a piece of shit. However that is my experience. They appear to be hit and miss. Look on the KWA forums. You'll see a shit ton of complaints about the gun and KWA has done fuck all.

Yes, was for the M11, but if you overload your mags, you can damage the loading nozzle on the MP9 as well. You won't crush the bolt however like the M11.
Mine has been awesome so far. I gamed it once but fired well over 2k BBs with the new bolt and there is no wear anywhere. Just remember to keep it lubed properly (more like a pistol than a GBBR though... the upper receiver is not used to guide anything, so no need to grease the outside of the bolt... it's just like a slide from a pistol. |
Anyone know if these issues have been fixed?
|
Does anyone know where to find mags for this gun because everywhere I look they are sold out or too expensive.

So far this is the best I could find in Canada.
http://www.ventureairsoft.ca/item.ph...aa0e7698dc7844 But he does not know when he will have more. |
Anyone know if the KSC MP9 magazines will work with the KWA?
I am aware that the older KSC magazine are not compatible with the KWA MP9. However, it is my understanding that the newer KSC System 7 magazines are compatible with the KWA MP9. Can anyone confirm this? |
Theyll work fine. Hitman, you dont need to buy mags in canada if theres a better price internationally, just make sure you account for shipping
|
KWA proshop has mags and will ship international. Give em a call.
|
Think I'll order from them considering I need the low power bolt too

Also as a side note, I tested mine on a couple different BB weights and it can shoot around 330fps with .25g and 350fps with .28g. On a general GBB note, being used to AEGs it could seem to be an easy mistake to chrony with a light BB and be within limits but then game a heavier weight and be way over. |
FYI, I phoned in to order a MP9 Low Power Bolt through KWA USA directly. They charged me $15.00 USD for shipping. They shipped via USPS but the tracking # didn't seem to work. IIRC though it arrived in under 2 weeks.
My advice is to call them to confirm if they have the parts you want in stock. The bolt I ordered was out of stock when I first called them about 2 or 3 weeks prior, I only placed the order once they confirmed that they had restocked. |
A bit of a necropost but update on the mp9 its still running strong and I'll be picking up mags and low power bolt tomorrow, I'm just trying to figure out how many to get... and what to put on for a sight.
