Possible to make AEG/GBB louder?

I know what some of you are thinking. "What? Louder? U serial?"
Well, I just thought it'd be fun if airsoft guns sound more like real ones, giving a better sense of realism as well as having more people to ducking from covering fire. I just want to know if it's possible without sacrificing accuracy or RoF even if I wouldn't mod my guns in such a manner.

ShelledPants February 25th, 2011 00:40

Aluminium piston head, bare cylinder head, 400 fps + spring, Firepig muzzle device... and it'll be loud.

EDIT: I cannot attest to the life of the mechbox...

sundae_1021 February 25th, 2011 00:41

it will depend on the flashider. the bigger the hole, the louder it sounds.

Strelok February 25th, 2011 00:54

Madbull made a thread attachment that you could attach halfed 2L bottles for maximum sound.

Lol, it was a joke.

StrikeFreedom February 25th, 2011 00:57

Steel piston and cylinder heads?

Styrak February 25th, 2011 01:05

Noveske KX3/Firepig sound amplifying flashhider.

Got one on my HK11E. Highly recomend it!

AngelusNex February 25th, 2011 04:49

These are guaranteed to make any airsoft gun much louder http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=571

I have this one on my 416 and it also made my gun much louder though not to the extent as the firepig http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1036

Ross February 25th, 2011 11:35

would the pig make a gbbr louder?

Styrak February 25th, 2011 11:41

It makes any gun louder.

SuperCriollo February 25th, 2011 12:00

Aeg's with speakers that emulate the sound of the real thing. Maybe the next TM ignovation... Lol

yes. the fire pig makes a big difference. I love it on my WE PDW

Andy n February 25th, 2011 12:20

I also have one on my WE PDW. I was firing beside a wall and my ears were ringing for a while afterward.

Jimski February 25th, 2011 14:10

you just have to make a giant firepig then, with a church bell

ThunderCactus February 25th, 2011 17:03

My M4 has a thundercustom silencer with a threaded front end. Take it off and it's a huge loudener :D

BGrail25 February 25th, 2011 22:01

Buy a real gun and put BB's in the cartridges.

Jsofter February 25th, 2011 22:52

put the gun closer to your ear, itll sound louder for sure.

Nah, then you get a melty flaming plastic goo of death coming out of your gun.

Cpl T. Syndrome February 25th, 2011 23:07

Louder is not always a good thing If your plannin on gaming with it. I'm actually looking to make my A&K M249 quieter..I don't know how many times I've had a team mate have to tell me that the guy I'm shootin at has called hit. Guys I play with on a regular basis know now to raise there hand when they feel the sting of my pig because screamin hit is pointless, I just can't hear it over the action..Now I know a supressor will dampen it a bit and I have tried one, but come on the beast is 4 feet plus as it is. An axtra 6-8" is just ridiculus..I've also added a sorbo pad- of anythin it made it more "basey"..any suggestions??

coach February 25th, 2011 23:22

But that's a SAW and an AEG to boot.

A gbbr with the firepig is awesome in the field. It brings in more realism and heads do duck when you start dumping rounds down range. :D

Hmm... Good point.

Guess what I'm tryin to say is Loud is cool if your plinkin but in a gamin situation it can bring on a negative affect..From experince, you don't wanna keep hittin a guy who's already hit cause you didn't hear him..

Big downside of being an LMG user, usually can't hear people call hit when your heavily engaged

Well...if the guy drops on the floor and raises his hand ...that's because he's dead...If he just scream HIT, I won't hear him with my GBBR ! that wouldn't be my fault.

MADDOG February 26th, 2011 00:04

Fire Pig + AK 74SU = Distinctive sound

Oh but it is...at least that's how I feel..We're out to have fun and not hurt anyone..Don't get me wrong I like bein the big dog and bein feared. But in the end it's just a game and at the end of it, I like the fact I can hang at the camp fire when it's all over and make friends with the guys I lite up.Trust me dude if you were on the receivin end of my saw and I didn't hear ya, you wouldn't be thinkin it was your fault..

so again i ask Is there a trick to makin this thing quieter?

TaroBear February 26th, 2011 03:29

What about sidearms? I think attaching a firepig to a pistol would look pretty dumb.

Yeah I can understand :p but when I'm hit I jump out of fire get my orange hat out, raise my gun with the hat over the barrel...

but I understand your point !
to make it quieter, you could upgrade it with quieter parts but I don't know much about it :p

phloudernow February 26th, 2011 18:09

put a noveske fire pig loudener :D

THe_Silencer February 27th, 2011 23:57

Use a shitty worn out motor. Adjust the pinion gear height so that it can barely contact bevel gear, just enough to cycle the AEG. Don't grease your gearbox. Don't use a spring guide with bearings. Make sure that anything that can be replaced with metal is metal.

Larryterri April 15th, 2013 18:49

Noveske Flash Hider

I got one of these off ebay, but there were no cones inside, and no way to adjust it at all. Is there another version of this that looks exactly the same but is not a sound amplifier?

Yup, there is the $50-60 madbull one and then the cheap china knock off that doesn't actually do anything

TokyoSeven April 15th, 2013 22:17

Ta-da!

This or get better earphones

cetane April 15th, 2013 23:04

Full cylinder & short barrel will give you a louder pop too if you want to go internal...

Larryterri April 16th, 2013 08:02

Guess I got the cheap knockoff then, thing is it is identical, every marking is the same. How can you tell which one is the real deal?

coach April 16th, 2013 08:16

Position of the inner barrel makes a huge difference with the fire pig. If it stops too far forwards it won't resonate.

Larryterri April 16th, 2013 12:23

My inner barrel comes out abotu 1/4 inch from the threads...

Hectic April 16th, 2013 13:04

For the fire pig to work well the inner has to end just inside the base (narrow part) of the fire pig then the air is forced in behind the cone till its full then pops out back into the cone and exits with a nice POP sound. If you adjust the cone forward so the opening is bigger itll catch more air snd the pop wilo become lower sounding.

As far as making you saw quieter get some mouse pad or dynamat (from car audio places) and fill it in any open spaces around the gearbox and in the body of the aeg to muffle the echo in the body. Then ad a thick sorbo pad bearing bushings bearing spring guide pom piston head with bearing helical gears and a perfect shim job (kind of escential with helical gears anyhow) and you wont really need a silencer the pom and sorbo will takebcare of most of the POP sound the gears and besrings will elimijate most of the whine from the gearbox and the dynamat will muffle the rest you should mostly only hear the motor and the sound of the box mag will almost be as loud as that. Ive always wanted to build a "silenced" aeg just never got around to it yet but thems be the steps to take. Wont be perfectly silenced but will be damn quiet. Also going to a softer spring (320-340fps) will help too but we all know we want that majic 400 fps so i omited that.

The real sound amp for airsoft is made by mad bull and will most likely state on the website that it is a sound amp or gives some indication that it is one.

http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=571

For example the one listed on this website states that it has "inner adjustable cups".
