Knives

So some don't pack real knives, others pack them just to look cool :D, others are part of the look of their kit, and others are for animal defense/survival.

I just found this in the local pawn shop for $5.

It's an Ontario Air Force Survival Knife, 1-86. Beat up but still a good knife!

So what knives do you like for gear wise?

Scouser February 4th, 2011 17:46

i carry around my grandfathers issue knife from WW2 most days, beat up as all hell, but the blade still holds an edge

Coresair February 4th, 2011 18:36

I have the same knife as in your pic. I love it, but with the window punch on the back i find myself cutting my finger on it when i have it in my pocket.

Padkiller February 4th, 2011 18:46

Usually, when I go camping, actually, extreme camping ! I carry a 20" machete and a 6.5" combat knife, the machete to cut wood, etc. and the knife for personnal defense or preparing fish/meat.

I sometimes also carry the old .38 special, but that's when we go a little farter than civilisation and where bears are SOMETIMES seen !

I switched from my front right pocket to my back right pocket for EDC. At games I just carry it in the extra pistol mag pouch that I have on front of my drop leg holster. It is easily accessible there and is very lightweight, altough I
doubt I'd be punching windows anytime soon at games ... :)

Checked out some Benchmade and Spyderco at the SHOT Show. Also got to meet Chris Reeve. I particularly liked the German made Boker from Solingen. SOG had a funny knive they just called DEMO. We asked the guy what it was called and he just said DEMO.

Frozen Tex February 4th, 2011 23:57

I EDC a Spyderco Endura Emerson Wave or Cold Steel Voyager Tanto (Gunsight Ranch Edition), Leatherman Wave, and a teeny-tiny Swiss Army Knife that belonged to my grandfather.

During games, I carry the Spyderco and a Next Gen Kabar in stainless.

I also happen to have a Cold Steel Trail Hawk tomahawk, which I may try carrying with my WWII gear this coming season.

mcguyver February 5th, 2011 00:32

I carry a Kill-A-Watt all day at work, as well as a Klein lineman's skinner and an Olfa knife. My truck always has a Kershaw multi-tool (best one I've ever had) and a CRKT M16-14DSFG.

My 1911 holster (Safariland) has an Hissatsu bolted onto it.

I have dozens of other knives of different utility and quality all over the damn house.

redzaku February 9th, 2011 22:35

i would like a BESH knife and surplus american bayonet for the garand?

I carry with me a Gerber power frame. It's comfortable, easy to use, and cheap.

Works for me.

Lakonian February 11th, 2011 10:21

Zero Tolerance ZT0100, ESEE-5, Kershaw JYD II comp., ESEE-Izula, Ontario RTAK II, and a custom FHM(Filipino Hand-Made) Janap.

Awesome tools, let me tell ya.

horto February 11th, 2011 10:44

I think the original intent of the OP for this thread wasn't EDC, but what do you carry in-game...

'Cause I sure don't EDC a Kabar.

Although I did for a while, come to think of it. :D

That is my EDC for the past 6 years,

have a larger parkerized version with a serrated half edge for field carry

In game... a selection of Cold Steel rubber knives ,

Rugger_can February 11th, 2011 11:02

Oh...

Well Carrying real knives onto the field is up to the impression one is doing I suppose. Just remember, unless your cutting some rope or something keep that shit in it's sheath.

I can remember two very real very stupid instances where tempers flared and real knives came out over airsoft bullshit.

horto February 11th, 2011 11:17

although... I'm really liking this kershaw groove!! (the sleek handle of the leek can be slippery)

Just curious on the Cold Steel as I haven't been able to find any documentation on this knife. It was willed to me from my brother so I've had it for nearly 11 years. I know it's an old knife, so my question ....... is the built in plastic clip on the back of yours worn out? Mine is not as tight as it used to be and I find it falls off easy at times, and have dropped it outside my truck allot. I've just recently went to a pouch for it, but the pouch I have is a belt loop with NO snap on it. I hate the idea of having to undo my belt to take the pouch off. My EDC light has a pouch with a snap belt loop so that i can take off the light pouch without removing my belt.

What are your thought on this? Very nice knife BTW. I like mine.

The Gunsight edition I have now is my second one, sent by Cold Steel as a warranty replacement, after my original, plastic-clipped model broke. I was driving a van, and the lap portion of the seatbelt slid between the clip and my jeans, and was caught when I got out and snapped the clip clean off. Never a problem with the metal clip, though.
