1911 Carbine kit

Move over glock lovers, here's one for the 1911 crowd, appears to be out of stock right now, but interesting nonetheless.

I wonder if it'll fit a 2011/hicapa

Ooooo. Shiny.

Kos-Mos September 9th, 2010 01:55

Won't fit a hicapa since it replaces the grip pannels on the 1911...

And I find it really ugly.

Not the same feel as on the Glock... plus the 1911 lacks auto-fire to make a stock system needed.

Conker September 9th, 2010 01:55

It won't fit a hi-capa (although they might do a separate version for them, this one won't).

The 1911 gets attached to the "platform" as a set of grips would.. that's it. As hicapa grips are different (and much larger, due to the "double stack" design) they won't fit.

EDIT: burnt by Kos-Mos^^

pusangani September 9th, 2010 01:59

ahhh single stack ftl, although those grips are mighty comfy tho

Assault Pioneer September 9th, 2010 01:59

it looks like a pretty lazy design to me. just to satify the 1911 owners wanting their own carbine kit like the glock

reminds me of those ghey Tiberius paintball pistols

4.3 extreme in one of these would be nice, if they made a 2011 variant kit, add longer inner barrel and 50rd mag and watch them scatter like roaches!

Tell that to the real-steel company who designed it.
It's much more designed as a modular semi-auto .45 PDW, which role I'm confident it fullfills very well. In airsoft, it might be different... but that's another story.

and the kwc is metal so imagine the kick.... *drools*
i think im gonna do it!

pusangani September 9th, 2010 02:18

Send an email to ebb and tell them you want a Deagle carbine kit, if enough people ask they'll do it I'm sure, then people can actually start bringing theirs to games :)

Assault Pioneer September 9th, 2010 02:38

Just because a real steel company made doesn't mean anything really, it looks like a shooting range toy, no way mil/LE would ever actually use them (don't show me stock photos from thenmakers website with cops holding them like the camo companies those pictures are all posed) it's just a shroud really there's nothing really viable for it to be a successful design outside hobbiest shooting, neither is te glock but atleast that goes full auto

Why would I ruin my perfectly good, personal defensive weapon by turning it into a large shoulder rifle?

Conker September 9th, 2010 02:58

@Assault Pioneer: PDW aka personal defense weapon aka home defense weapon. It's not aimed at MIL/LE as they have much better options, but at civilians more than anything

@Tarobear: To mount optics/grips, get better control of the recoil, etc. There's not that many options for a .45 PDW on the civilian market.

http://www.hera-arms.com/cpe.php

In RS, you can also intall longer barrels that would be totally unusable on the pisol alone (shitty handling). Again, for a PDW it makes a lot of sense.

YouTube - Hera-Arms CPE Colt 1911A1 Carbine Conversion
Make that kind of follow-up shots on a RS .45 pistol while keeping good precision... I don't think it's easy without looooots of training.

Again, that's for the RS... but some of it still applies to airsoft.

lol hellz yeh dawg!

jk, I say mags like everyone else, "deagle" is my guilty pleasure of laziness when typing, I don't say it when speaking, it's so much easier to type "deagle" than "desert eagle" <--- see I'm kool!

and @AP

yes it's kinda ridiculous, but for a cheap bastard like me, it's the closest I'll be to having a GBBR at least until the prices come down a bit :D

doc_pathfinders September 9th, 2010 04:01

ok, well as long as you don't use 'deagle' while speaking i guess it's not _that_ bad..

like being touched in the naughty place by an ugly woman with a not body..

but still, Dude.. i've told people i know what a retarded thing saying that is.. and while i'm sure you enjoy your title, don't take it too seriously otherwise people will realise it's true.

;)

pusangani September 9th, 2010 04:08

Hehe thanks for the words of wisdom :)

but what if you're in the dark with the ugly woman, then naughty place touching is kinda good right?

doc_pathfinders September 9th, 2010 04:22

that or a bag over the head, or if you're thinking of her hot friend/sister..

then it's AAALLLL RIIIIIGGHHHHTTTT!

anyway, enough with the thread jacking, i wish something like this would be a clip-in system for my WA para :(

guess i'll have to go the glock route, anyone want a handgrenade? ;)

pewpew September 14th, 2010 21:28

Do you guys think this would work with any other 1911 clones?

thanks

Conker September 14th, 2010 21:52

As long as it's a single stack, full size grip (so NOT a Detonics), yes. Since it's attached using the grip panels, it should fit pretty much any manufacturer.

pewpew September 15th, 2010 15:23

Thanks, too bad there are no hi cap mags though---might go the glock route now

Daiviet September 15th, 2010 15:31

looks pretty cool to me.

It's been a while since i've looked at the internals of a tm 1911, but I could swear that you could fit the hi capa extreme internals into the 1911. Blowback unit for sure, get an aftermarket spring guide with buffers.... Not sure about the disconnector lever though.

Anyone wanna take a look at the disconnectors from a hi capa and 1911 for me?

TM 1911 with hi capa extreme internals for full auto, combined with the new 40 rnd mag they have for single stacks will do wonders with this kit

Crunchmeister September 15th, 2010 15:39

In concept, I can see this as being useable with real steel. Having a .45 platform that can be shouldered would help with accuracy and managing the recoil from that big round. But as was mentioned, this would be more of a range toy that a practical service weapon, even in the PDW role. The lack of select fire and the low ammo capacity would put this gun at a real disadvantage in the hands of those that would need to use it. Even if extended mags were made available, they would be of fairly low capacity because of the single stack design. Any mag of more than 20-ish rounds would be long and unweildy and quite heavy.

In airsoft, there's no reason this couldn't be used, although it would still put the user at a disadvantage against AEGs. In a pistol / shotgun only game, this would probably work well. I can't see this design being useful in any other role though.

As for looks. Well.... EEEEEEWWWWW.... As AP said, it looks like a paintball pistol.

Wheeeeeee necro. Did anyone pick one of these up in the end?

thpethalK November 29th, 2010 10:03

Looking at the vid Conker posted...what is the point of the 16" conversion kit with the barrel extender...might as well just use a UMP
