K98

Why has no one done a normal spring k98? I mean does someone make one? I was just thinking that if it was ~$200 without the Dboys shells I would be very happy.

Gunny_McSmith July 14th, 2010 22:48

Marushing makes a gas version of it... :)

burningashes July 14th, 2010 23:08

Your not age verified so you cant buy guns right now. Expect about $300 for the Dboys K98. I happen to own one and its great and i have about 80 shells for it.

P.S the Dboys K98 is spring powered.

Get a Tanaka Kar98, and for the winter an STG 44.

BoGrain July 15th, 2010 01:01

Springer non-shell ejecting Kar-98 have to be built from a VSR-10 if you want one - It will requires a bit of work and planning but it can be a great skirmish-able sniper weapon.

Huge +1 on that

What is the comparison between the D Bosy springer and the Tanaka Gas? I'd definitely love to get a Tanaka but for the next year anything costly like that would be out of my budget so I was wondering if the D Boys would be ok for target shooting and just generally having some fun.

Assault Pioneer July 17th, 2010 04:48

the Tanaka's a fuckin cannon!

I have one and my MED is about 50ft further back than the other sniper's. it is with most.

the Dboys is crap, they break and parts strip, its not worth it, they cost like $470 with a shit load of shells? your better off doubling that and getting one of the most, if not the most powerful airsoft BA rifle out there

Lord of Rebirth July 17th, 2010 12:22

So the Tanaka is an effective sniper? That would certainly make it much more worth the extra. To bad I can't know how much more there end up being yet.

Forever_kaos July 17th, 2010 12:46

If you want an out of the box K98 worth gaming, Tanaka is the way to go.
But for the $1,000 price range, lack of cold weather gaming and spare parts availability, I would personally say get the Dboys and mod a VSR-10 in there.

Mags are around, so are spare parts for the VSR-10.
I haven't heard of anyone breaking something on the Tanaka K98, but you never know in that odd slim chance something does...
Then what?

Lord of Rebirth July 17th, 2010 12:51

How hard is it to mod a VSR-10 into the D Boys?

Forever_kaos July 17th, 2010 12:54

Hopefully within a few weeks I will be starting modding up mine, but it does not look too hard.

You'll have to sign up to see anything on there, but it's worth it!

google is ur best friend!

why make it so complicated when you can buy a gas bolt made for the dboys k98 and make a few adjustments.

Forever_kaos August 11th, 2010 23:23

Then you are still catching your shells that fly out after each time you rack the bolt.

burningashes August 12th, 2010 01:04

Well the VSR bolt ruins the fun by looking out of place. I'd rather have a netting around the chamber and empty shells into a dump bag whenever i get a chance.
And if the objective was to make the spring k98 into a gas one, then its much easily accomplished by a premade gas bolt than modding heavily to fit a vsr mechanism.

BoGrain August 12th, 2010 02:42

Don't forget that you are also stuck with the shitty hop-up as well as the two piece inner barrel and the shell's poor airseal... which still equates to a lousy rifle. The stock VSR internals are by far superior to the gas d-boys kar-98 internals in terms of performance and reliability.

The VSR handle can be made into a KAR98 one, except it is slightly more complicated.

The VSR handle has to be modified with a more radical approach (you have to saw off the end of the VSR handle and replace it by the Kar-98 one by welding it in place).
