Airsoft and Rez?

Hello ASC.
I'm heading off to University in about a year (I'm turning 18 in 5 months, doing another year of gr. 12) and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with having airsoft guns on campus while living in residence. I'm assuming that if they are kept out of sight and in a case and NEVER taken out while not at a game, it would be OK, but I'm just asking incase someone has had experience with this.
Thanks!

I kept my pistol under a bunch of old papers in a drawer. You have to be really careful though. Its discovery could lead to academic suspension/expulsion and a whole whackload of other unsavory consequences. I wouldn't tell friends about it. If you absolutely must do show and tell, think about who you're showing it off too. A falling out with a floormate over a girl or some other stupid shit could lead to a gun call and your door being unceremoniously kicked down.

Edit: Just to clarify, I agree with what everyone else said. In retrospect, dumb move on my part that happened to end well because of luck.

You would have to contact your university about their policies on keeping airsoft on campus residence though generally I don't think they're allowed.

Having a replica firearm, or BB gun, or paintball gun in some residences is grounds for immediate expulsion from the residence AND OR the university. Read the fine print, ask around... BUT DO NOT take it for granted. Personally, I wouldn't take the chance, ESPECIALLY with airsoft guns. Most schools have a very serious zero tolerance policy towards replica firearms.

there was a thread around here some time ago about a guy in a similar situation. in essence the consensus was to make friends with the local airsofters and see if one of them would be nice enough to hold onto your guns for you kinda a storage thing. or keep them at home... tac gear is acceptable, but guns are a NO, all campuses are generally the same no guns on the premises at all no exceptions

You may be 'safe' about it, and hide it really well.
But what if in the unlikely situation a random guy or buddy finds it? Do they know how to treat it?

I'm leaning more towards probably not.

"Duuuude, I found this 9 mil in Steves room! Check it out yo!"
*insert hipsta rasta gansta pistol holding sideways acts*

Don't.

Keeping a replica firearm, within a building full of hormone raging young adults. Bad idea.

I forsee expulsion from school.

Not to mention alcohol.

Some one here at my university had a crappy airsoft gun from walmart and it was spray painted black and he got kicked out of the school.....i think he also had drugs to.

if you do OFF CAMPUS residence, you should be fine.
if you're ON campus with so much as a rubberband and a paper clip, you'll be doomed to lose everything.

Pliskin July 10th, 2010 14:45

I don't see why you'd want to take it anyways. It just poses a danger to the guns as well as yourself. It could be stolen, broken, used in a crime if stolen, etc etc. And you could get expelled or charged with concealed weaponry, you know, the usual fun stuff.

pusangani July 10th, 2010 14:57

Shouldn't you be more worried about hot coeds instead of toy guns in your room?

If I could go back in time to college I wouldn't be worried about no damn toys, I'd be chasin tail not trying to get a reputation as "the gun geek" on rez.

Go on youtube, you will see lots of videos of kids getting arrested for it. Don't do it, bad idea.

Don't.

BoGrain July 11th, 2010 08:11

don't bring your guns into rez, you will be in deep troubles if caught.

If you are unable to find someone living off-campus or a fellow airsofter to keep your gun safe, you could probably rent a storage space offcampus which would be a viable alternative to expulsion from res or university :D

Cassius July 11th, 2010 10:18

I wouldn't risk it even if it was allowed.

In other news; I really thought you were talking about Rez the old Dreamcast game... :(

The funny thing is... They actually specifically mention airsoft (as well as paintball, and pellet guns) in the rez policies at my friends college.

I'll post up pics of it later but yeah.... pretty much an accident waiting to happen and can result in some deep shit.

At my rez, the clause was "projectile weapons" were banned, this included airsoft, paintball, pellet, and nerf.

Doesnt mention crossbows however, or sling shots.
