what gun should i get???

hey guys im new to airsoft but i do have some experience in paintball(hope it will come in handy)

im looking to buy my first aeg or a spring sniper
i have already purchased a kJworks mk1 pistol which is awesome btw

i know that most of u are going to say go with an aeg which i get, but i think i may have found an ok sniper. i think its the well l96 its $280 on buy airsoftcanada

i am willing to pay 200 to MAYBE 400
some aegs i have in mind are:
ics cxp concept its about $335 at poco military

used classic army m16a4 it says its all black and metal and has a tightbore inner barrel and a syst motor with heat sinks and reinforced gb
full RIS/RAS systme, fore grip, red dot scope, hard case, 3 high cap mags

all that for $350

i was also thinking of the KWA g36c which i think is about $380

i also found a used tm ak47 for $350/400

so ya i would like to know ur opinions on these guns or any other guns that are good for nooblets?

Assault Pioneer June 16th, 2010 20:07

where are you finding these used guns?

xXSkillzScopeXx June 16th, 2010 20:09

craigslist

xXSkillzScopeXx June 16th, 2010 20:10

i cant believe i got a response so fast thx lol

Kokanee June 16th, 2010 20:11

Get age verified here and a whole world of AEG's etc will open up to you. The Well L96 is piece of garbage, the sear is made of monkey metal and will wear down after a few hundred shots.

Keep in mind you should budget about $800 to get into the sport as a beginner.

what if i upgrade the l96<, but i also heard that the whole sniping game isnt for noobs

xXSkillzScopeXx June 16th, 2010 20:18

what about buying new ethier local or from a canadien site cuz arent the classifields used guns

NoGear June 16th, 2010 20:25

Its best not to shop at crapsoft tire but 500$ for a gun is good.

just because its used doesn't mean worse infact used guns often come with better parts and upgrades. just like paintball guns take E grip for example on a non egrip gun.

Forever_kaos June 16th, 2010 20:25

Classifieds are generally filled with used guns, yes.

But there also is the Retailer section. Which is full of retailers with new guns both here on this website, once you get Age Verified.

TokyoSeven June 16th, 2010 20:40

This websites classifieds contain both new and used items.
Used items are not always poorer quality, in fact many used items can already come upgraded or have had known issues repaired by the previous owner.

With the budget you have set I am curious if you remembered to factor in the cost of additional magazines, batteries and BBs

On the topic of craigslist I would be wary. As it seems you some what lacking in knowledge someone could capitalize on the situation and pull a fast one on you. Unless you can physically meet with the seller and inspect the item I would be wary with any craigslist transactions.

In the mean time please take some time to review some of the threads in the frequently asked questions section as it contains many threads on topics that will prove useful to you.

Just a note that the $800 doesn't have to be spent right off the bat however does make your experience much more enjoyable.

$600 is pretty reasonable to start off with, especially if you come from a woodsball background and may or may not have BDU's, goggles, and other equipment that's common to airsoft and paintball. Then after that 2 or 3 months later you can drop another $200 or 300.

Also consider talking to Optix, Kampfer or Crash the local AV reps for the Vancouver/lower mainland area. Avoid buyairsoft as much as you can.

For being a sniper, it's probably better to borrow and see what it's like than spending $1000+ on a gun that you may or may not like. It's definitely not for beginners and people who think sniping is like in Modern Warfare, however if you've played Operation Flashpoint, ARMA or a military simulator, although it's still not a good representation it's better at showing you what being a sniper is like than in COD.

Ok thx do u know which ones I really like that ics but I'm unsure on it's range and what upgrades I could do to it

TokyoSeven June 16th, 2010 21:23

Stock I would say the max effective range for the ICS would be no more than 25-30 meters if not less. Internally all upgrades that can be done to an ICS split V2 can be done to the concept.

Ok so that would be a good choice for my first aeg? Or are there better starters

Code accepted

It was an "n"

To be honest it depends on what you would be comfortable with.

Take for example the G36, the AK and the full length M16. Each gun has its pros and cons but in the end its all about what you are willing to accept as a pro and con and if you are willing to deal with it.

All 3 airsoft guns work off the same principal. Battery powered motor drives gears that compress a pistol that is forced back down a cylinder with a spring to push a BB down a barrel. How you want that to "look" is entirely up to you.

Comparing each external model is like comparing a watermelon, a banana and a bunch of grapes. Once again it boils down to what you like. Lets drop the discussion about external look for a second.

Internally the G36 and the AK use a version 3 mechbox, its design is a generation newer than the version 2 that is used in the M16. That is not to say that the V2 is a bad mechbox, it simply had some minor flaws that were corrected in the next evolution of the mechbox series.

That was yesterday. Tacos are only on Tuesday. Tonights $4 dollar pints and $2 for 1lb wings.

xXSkillzScopeXx June 16th, 2010 21:48

Ok so I think I've might have narrowed it down to the ics cxp concept or some of their other m4s, but if I'm not getting the range out of the cxp concept can I get a longer barrel for it?

AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA sorry but I lol'ed so hard at this one !

for your question, my first gun was a Classic Army sportline M4...you got what you pay for ! but it is still working without any issues after like 1000 BBs shot...I'm buying a Classic Army Proline because I really love those ;) Get the point on what you like (weapon look)

do a pros and cons list like that:

M4
Pros: easily upgradable
easy to fix
lot of customized accessories
good looking

cons: V2 Mechbox
not that much space to put a batterie if you have a retractable stock
etc.

G36
pros: so nice look
V3 Mechbox
etc.

cons: big magazines (shitty for vests)
if you run out of ammo on the field...most people only got M4/M16 mags

SO...find witch model you want, and then look for a brand ;)

There is a way to get great pricing and selection.

Support the retailers making Legal headway into the fight to bring Quality Airsoft into Canada by purchasing from them. Get AV'ed and ask around. Trust me man, there are good prices to be had.
