SD Hi-capa slide Fitment issue
Hello ASC!
I jsut got my SD 5.1 slide today, and Have a few fitment issues with it.... 1) the Rear sight doesnt seem to fit.... 2) the inner barrel is really tight in the outer barrel... so should i sand the inner barrel a bit? or the outer barrel? 3) the LUGS on the slide are straight , instead of beeing angled at 45 degrees) like it should be on a TM hicapa slide.... (should i dremel?) this causes the chamber to not "lock" in place.... so it doesnt fit properly.... http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/x...l/SDC11783.jpg please help me! thx! |
What inner barrel do you have?
What outer barrel do you have? Looks like you got a hybrid slide, do you have a hybrid ported outer barrel? Don't dremel the slide, that's how the slide is supposed to be when you use the right parts for it. |
SD slide, SD hybrid, SD chamber....stock inner barrel
so it shoudl fit like this? http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/x...l/SDC11785.jpg |
Yes that looks about right.
|
Looks right, only way you can make it really fit if you throw it back on the frame..
|
That because hybrid barrel are different? Like they fit differently?
|
They should fit the same and function exactly the same way where it matters.

Throw it back on the reciever and rack it back. About the inner barrel and outer barrel not fitting. Is there pieces of metal in the outer barrel? Is there crap on your inner barrel? Have you threw on some oil to push the inner barrel through the outer barrel? Have you installed the rear sight before you put in the blow back chamber? |
Take a picture of the hopup + inner barrel and the chamber + outer barrel so we can see it.

Camera is dead..... Gotta recharge it..... Ill post pictures tmr.....
And gotta make that rear sight fit first......:S |
UPDATE.....pics!
So manage to fit the rear sight....:) And for the barrel, they has a inner screw for the front sight and it was blocking the inner barrel, so i sand it down a litte and it fits perfectly heres is a preview picture of the build, more(and better pictures) to come later in the pistol thread.... :) http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/x...l/P1070189.jpg Here is how the barrel/chamber fits.... http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/x...l/P1070193.jpg http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/x...l/P1070196.jpg http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/x...l/P1070191.jpg is that correct? Thanks PS: for the fake screws, and the sti logo for the grip, can i use crazy glue? Epoxy? Since its ABS plastic im not sure ....... |
That looks right, looks nice to :D

Looks good man, and yea, thats pretty much how it fits together. Super glue is fine for the logo and screws |
Ok cool ...... but that because of the hybrid slide/barrel?
Thx BTW : @Daiviet : are you vietnamese? |

With a name like mine, how could i not be viet? haha Đại Việt |
Ya was looking at Illusion builds on PB-base with the same slide and barrel, and looks like it fit exactly the same....
Haha i'm not the only viet on ASC then.....my name is Loc Nguyen Huu.. Haha |

http://www.pbase.com/illusive_airsof...7/original.jpg I really gotta take new photos of that gun. It's one of my faves, but I never use it.... As for the fake bolts and the badges, I use Krazy Glue. As for the lugs, you can break/chamfer the edges if you like, but they will eventually do it on their own through use anyways. The steel chamber will break the aluminum lugs on the slide naturally. I personally decided to skip that and spring load the barrel instead, so that the lugs don't need to be used. This changes the natural state of the barrel to pull rearward. It moves forward into battery under the power of the recoil spring applying pressure to the slide. When the slide pulls back, it releases the pressure, and the barrel will fall backwards under it's own spring power. This means that the pistol can function perfectly with the muzzle pointed downwards. (In regular setups, gravity will pull the barrel back forward and can cause cycling issues when the slide attempts return to battery.) |
Krazy glue, yes, I remember when I first got my SD grips, the fake bolts flew off from recoil..
Make sure your badges are parrellel with your slide. :P http://www.texasguntalk.com/forums/p...rfect10/p5.jpg |
Because i thought it had to fit/lock like on a normal bull barrel hicapa.... But i guess i was wrong....
Anyways....Thx to evreyone who helped! :) btw : this is only my junior hi-capa..... 6" hybrid 2 tone hicapa to come this summer !!! Stay tuned!! :) @Mr.Hitman yes! Thank you.... I was asking that same question to myself.... Haha thx man |

If you see the chamber raise up in to the port as the slide returns to battery, then it's locking in. Or were you expecting a higher tolerance fit where the chamber edges mates up better with the port? |
Ya i thought it would fit a little higher....
Meh nvm.... It will come with the normal wear of the lugs i guess.... Too bad... Haha i now have a full metal hi-capa :) |
