I'll be running these for the most part, I like em.

I just run em under my headset and have had no issues.

Unless you went to real earpro like Cobra mentions, don't expect much actual protection.

Not to hijack,

but I've been pondering the differences between Sordins and Comtacs. Do they essentially provide the same functions? I'm looking at repros.

From my understanding, they are literally the same exact design as far as the Z-tactical replicas go. The only difference is the position of the controls.

as an aside, the fake sordins actually are quire comfortable on my giant head.

So after checking around, it appears that my wish is just that.. a wish.

I can't get auto clipping burst noises and noise cancellation in the same unit. Guess I'll have to deal with them separately.

At any rate, a lot of the cheaper, functional options for airsoft have been listed by now.

Honestly if I were to do it over, I'd probably get the peltor 7Ss or howard leights and use the cheapy 10$ lapel mic I got with the earpiece.. just run a patch cable from the mic to the headset and you're good to go. Just because the tech in the real shooting headsets will more than be enough to surpass the quality of the ztac options, the boom mic also gets in the way most of the time, so being able to put it on my neckscarf or vest would get things out of the way much better.

Not sure if it's what your looking for and discontinued so pretty hard to find now, but more to say how well this product works and similar products likely would work. I've got 2 pairs of Ryobi noise cancelling ear pro. They have an input for mp3 or radio. They have a -25 db rating but actually amplify quieter sounds so you can hear someone talking beside you while in my case at work cancelling out very loud refrigeration fan units. They are a bit bulky as they contain a removable 4v lipo that lasts forever between charges but balanced well and very comfortable at the same time. I've not tested them against my airsoft guns but they are tough and would likely stand up to being shot multiple times...

If you're looking at repro's, then they are the exact same thing with slightly different housings

I was thinking of getting a Howard Leight Impact Sport. I heard they are really popular and reliable. The only fear I have when playing airsoft, is the possibility of a bb going right into an ear canal. The possibility of this happening, would be low though.
